Preconception.com's Advisor
Amy Ogle, M.S., R.D., author of Before Your Pregnancy, is a registered dietitian, exercise physiologist, and certified personal trainer by the American Council on Exercise (ACE). She became interested in maternal and infant health by way of her studies in nutrition and fitness. After graduating from the University of California, Davis with a B.A. in Community Nutrition, she received her M.S. in Applied Exercise Physiology from San Diego State University. After working for several years as an outpatient clinical dietitian, Amy then began to work with clients in their homes. She soon established a private practice called “Making the Leap… Into a Healthier Lifestyle.” Her primary interests gravitated to women’s health issues, particularly health during the childbearing years. Improving public awareness about the importance of preconception planning became a vocational passion. From 1996 to 1998, she channeled her enthusiasm and expertise into creating Before Your Pregnancy: Prepare Your Body For a Healthy Pregnancy, a workbook and video on preconception planning she authored and produced, respectively. Amy is a member of the American Dietetic Association and is actively involved in three national Dietetic Practice Groups (DPG): the Perinatal Nutrition DPG; Sports, Cardiovascular, and Wellness Nutritionists DPG; and Nutrition Entrepreneurs DPG. She conducts Before Your Pregnancy workshops for prospective parents and is a frequent guest lecturer for the YMCA, San Diego’s March of Dimes chapter, and a growing number of corporations, medical practices and community health centers. Amy lives with her husband and baby daughter in San Diego, CA.
