Expert Q&A

My husband and I are trying to get pregnant. I am now four days late, but the home pregnancy tests all say negative. Last night I had some pink tinge on the toilet paper (usually what I get before I get my period), but have had no further bleeding. Would the negative test, late period suggest a blighted ovum? Please help if you can. I don't want to run to the doctor unnecessarily. I would appreciate any info or advice you can provide. Thanks.

If your period is still late and the pink spotting did not turn into a regular period, I would advise you to let your doctor know. He or she may have you come in for a blood pregnancy test which is more sensitive at detection of early pregnancy. In other words, the urine test could be falsely negative because the pregnancy is so early.
