Expert Q&A

| By Lawrence B. Werlin Fertility Specialist | ||
I have had three consecutive miscarriages and have been told about progesterone shots or suppositories to help raise hormone levels to ensure a complete pregnancy. Do you have any information on either of those products?
By definition, women who have three or more spontaneous pregnancy losses in the first 12 weeks have RPL (recurrent pregnancy loss). There are a number of causes that can account for the problem. These include: 1) genetic; 2) structural (uterine abnormalities); 3) hormonal (including progesterone); 4) immune factors; 5) microbiological factors.
It is my recommendation that you make a consultation with a reproductive endocrinologist who can address all of these issues in an effort to help you be successful."
