Expert Q&A

By Lawrence B. Werlin
Fertility Specialist

I'm 23 years old and have one child conceived naturally with no complications. My child is almost 4 years old. I've been diagnosed with secondary amenorrhea with no known cause. My estrogen levels were low. I've had no menstrual cycle for over two years and have been trying to conceive with no luck. I was given estrogen and then progesterone and then bled after. What steps should I take to better my chances to conceive?

At this point, I would recommend that you consult with a reproductive endocrinologist who will do the appropriate laboratory evaluation and place you on the appropriate medications in an effort to help you conceive."
