Can you have LH surge and yet not be fertile and produce no egg?

The vast majority of women with normal periods who show LH surge (the sudden rise of luteinizing hormone [LH] that occurs mid-cycle) using the home tests kits produce an egg. There are many reasons for infertility other than failure to ovulate. Likewise, as women age into their mid-forties, many of the eggs that are ovulated have chromosomal defects that are inconsistent with normal pregnancy. Women over 40 have a slightly higher percentage (4%) of eggs with defects than do women who are 30 (3%)."
