Expert Q&A

By Lawrence B. Werlin
Fertility Specialist

Is it possible for me to have someone else's egg fertilized in my uterus in order to have a baby?

The simple answer is of course yes. The process by which this would occur would involve the use of donor eggs. In this process, the recipient (that would be you) would be on a hormone replacement protocol, so that we may control the lining of your uterus to make it receptive for implantation. At the same time, your donor would be undergoing a stimulation protocol to allow us to retrieve her eggs, incubate them with your husband's sperm and ultimately place embryos into your well-primed uterus."
