Jessica's Diary Entries

Diary Navigation:

September 6, 2000

I had my first false alarm Saturday night. Turned out to be just gas, but it hurt! We found out that I'm already 1 centimeter dilated and 50 percent effaced! I know it doesn't really mean anything, but it's nice to know :). I'll tell you what, though -- I packed my darn hospital bag as soon as I got home that night! It's a good thing I wasn't really in labour! :) Baby still hasn't dropped or anything so we're just waiting. I've been having a LOT of Braxton Hicks contractions. They start to get regular then they go away! It's rather frustrating. I suppose he'll come in his own time, but I may help him out a bit!

One of the midwives in my practice recommended a restaurant here in Atlanta that says if you eat their eggplant parmesan and don't deliver within 48 hours, you get a free meal. Don and I are probably going to go there for dinner one evening and see if the eggplant is as good as they claim :). So, we'll see.

I do think I'll miss being pregnant. I'm trying to memorize what his little kicks feel like. These are the last few weeks of our special time together. Really soon I'll have to share him with the rest of the world and he won't be just mine anymore. Sure, I complain about the aches and pains, but I'd do it all again to make something so precious as this baby boy. I suppose I'll just have to do this again another time, huh?

Not much else going on. I'm still getting settled here. No one is driving anyone else crazy yet, except that my grandparents think I can't be alone for any real length of time. I mean, they are not my only route to the hospital and I'm not an invalid! Oh, well. Something I have to deal with, I suppose. Hopefully sometime really soon I'll be posting a birth story! Talk to you all next week.
