Heidi's Diary Entries

Diary Navigation:

August 2, 2000

I can't believe all that has happened to the other diary writers in the past week when I was unable to check in. My deepest sympathies to the ladies that suffered miscarriages and congratulations to the ladies that found out they were pregnant. I was sad to hear that Heather and Treasure are thinking of leaving the diaries. We will miss you!

Well, I survived the week with my family. It was quite the adventure. Sunday night we had 10 house guests and the rest of the week we had eight. I was so happy that my best friend Krista and her boyfriend Andre were able to make a detour and stop in for a day -- it was great. My grandpa only lost his teeth once during the visit! Usually he loses them more often than that and usually his hearing aid at least once or twice, ha ha. The rest of the week we did a lot of shopping, eating and sightseeing. I gained three and a half pounds -- my grandparents like dessert every night. Now I will never fit into the dress I want to wear to the wedding at the end of the month.

Krista and I have pledged to be long-distance diet buddies. Our chances for conception this month are pretty slim considering we BD'd before everyone arrived, which was CD12 I think and then not again until they left which was already like CD 20. I am just waiting for AF to arrive and then leave quickly. On the 15th I have my long awaited appointment with my doctor and I can't wait to see what we can do next. I guess it will be more tests but I just want things to speed up. I can't believe it has been more than a year and a half -- how depressing!

Oh, how could I forget: My course is finished -- yippee. I am going today to hand in my final paper and then it's party time. Finally I will be able to relax and enjoy what is left of summer. I can't tell you how relieved I am that it is finished!

I hope this entry wasn't too boring. I guess I could have told you more about "the visit." Believe me, there were many incidents that nearly drove me nuts that DH found hilarious, like my mother offering to rearrange the china cabinet (like it wasn't quite good enough the way I did it -- aahhh), or when we got separated going downtown and half of us ended up at the Field Museum and the others at Navy Pier. Perhaps when we got stuck out on a water taxi in the middle of a furious thunder storm and it started hailing and we got completely drenched. This is a good one -- how everyone kept trying to eat dinner in the family room instead of at a table. The spaghetti dinner was the last straw and I had to politely direct each person to the dining room, did they really think eating spaghetti off their laps in our living room with off-white carpet and a tan sofa was a good idea??? My sofa is almost ruined now as it is! Ah the memories, can't beat 'em!

Until next week, adieu!
Heidi
