WE HAVE A HOUSE!!!!! Well, not really...but at least we have the money now! We were officially approved at 1:48
p.m. eastern time today. We are ecstatic. Now all we have to do is get around the hurricane problem!
For those of you who don't know a lot about Florida, we have a beautiful thing called "the box." Basically, if there is a
named storm in the box, you cannot get insurance for your home. Period. No exceptions. Well, wouldn't you know, there is a
hurricane out there coming our way -- so now we're in a mad rush to get our insurance policy written. This "box" rule sounds
like a stupid rule, but I can completely understand the necessity for it. I was living in Homestead, Florida during hurricane
Andrew. I was on summer break from college for two weeks (which ended up being extended for a few months after the
event), and was visiting my parents. We stayed in the house for the entire storm, which was very scary...but not as bad as the
complete destruction that I saw afterwards. Anyway, the law was put into effect to protect insurance companies from people
going out and getting insurance before a hurricane hits, and then canceling it afterwards. I don't really like insurance
companies per se...but I want to make sure that they are financially healthy in case I happen to find myself in a disasters wake
one more time.
Well, on to the subject at hand. Promptly after our loan was approved, I was told that I will be blessed with a baby making session this evening. It definitely wasn't put in those words...but hey, I don't think the editors of this nice web magazine would appreciate the way it was whispered to me (at the office, nevertheless). I'm on day 17 of my cycle and have not ovulated yet, so the timing is very good. I noticed a little CM this morning, so I think I have a few days until I ovulate, but I've been told that sperm can live up to 4 days in fertile quality cervical fluid -- so we'll see.
Boy, we're so pumped about this house. DH has been through some really tough times in the past. He feels like this marriage and this house are part of a new beginning for him. He is so happy right now, it gives me goose bumps to see him smile this way. I understand now why he wanted to wait until we had the house before TTC. I can't pretend to understand exactly how it feels, but I know that for his own piece of mind, he had to get past this one hurdle (buying the house) before he could truly say that those dark times are behind him. I'm really happy that he feels this way, and I'm even more happy that I get to be a part of what he considers a new beginning.
Life can't get much better than this, can it?
Take Care,
Julia
