Looking out for number one ...

Its not easy is it? I mean, think of all of the chores that often beat out exercise for your time? Laundry, work, even calling friends and family. Do you get enough sleep? (Ha! In my dreams!) Do you take out time during the day that just belongs to you? I learned the hard way that my babies' health, even life, depended on my health. So being good to me, even if it feels indulgent, is a win-win at the end of the day. Its good for me, and good for any potential future pregnancy.

Now time to "walk the walk." On top of doctor appointments, I am trying to schedule things like massage (DH gave me a massage certificate for Christmas that I have yet to use) manicure/pedicure and a colonic. I am striving to embrace the idea that "me first" is not selfish, but vital. And if we are successful in our TTP quest (trying to parent), I will have even less time in 2001 to do nice things for me.

I have been eating very well. The truth be told, I really prefer good healthy food. My weakness is desserts. I have cut back, not cut out this vice. Brownies, cookies and cakes just speak to me. I try to make do with fruit, but chocolate is the big winner. I continue to take my walks and all the rest and just try to relax.

I know what IVF is like so I am not anxious. There were a few days of discomfort, but I can not remember when they were. It may have been after the retrieval. AF just left, hopefully not to revisit for nine months or so. Tomorrow is my baseline ultrasound and mock embryo transfer. They will be looking to see if there have been any changes in the size of my fibroid and to confirm that my cyst is gone. I hope that the fibroid has shrunk.

The next two weeks should fly by. My in-laws are due later this week. I can't believe that it has been over a year since we last saw them! DH and I are almost all-alone family wise on the West Coast. I am lucky to have one sister here, but that is it for 5,000 miles. They will keep us busy for a few days, and we have a wedding to go to. It should be beautiful. Will my old dresses fit? Well that is another story. We can only hope.

Well, I hope that you all take some time to enjoy this long weekend and are able to claim a little "independence" from the TTC/TTP stuff. Airlines instruct you to put your air mask on first, then assist the others around you. For TTC, it makes good sense.

Keep your eye on the prize!

Grace
