Introduction
Hello everyone! This entry brings me to my seventh week.
I started to get morning sickness in the middle of my sixth week. Oh, it is no fun!! I was hoping to miss out on it since I never got it with DD. Well, no such luck this time! I am actually starting to feel a little better but for about four days straight I was pretty nauseated and really not doing well. I never actually lost my cookies, just a lot of dry heaves and wishing I could just throw up but, nothing happened. I don't know which is worse, dry heaves or throwing up. I think dry heaves!
I had my first doctor appointment on Nov. 30. It went well. I saw the nurse practitioner and she did an internal exam and took some blood to check my progesterone levels. They called me this morning and said my progesterone level is 17, which is good. She said that they like to see the progesterone in the high teens to low 20s so that is a good number. The nurse is going to check with my doctor to see if she still wants to put me on a supplement due to my history of loss, to be on the safe side. That kind of worried me but I trust them and if they say it is OK, then I will go with that. You really don't find out anything new at your first appointment except for confirmation that you are PG. Well, DUH, I could have told them that!!
My next appointment is on Jan. 11 and I am hoping to hear the heartbeat. The NP told me that they will try to find it at that time and should be able to. I am really excited for that appointment.
My previous doctor is no longer practicing at this practice and I am not sure what is going on with her. The last I heard she was on extended medical leave. So, I had to pick another doctor and I ended up picking the doctor that saw me when I had Taylor. I really liked her then and I figure it is better to go with her since she has seen me before. Well, it turns out, she is the most-wanted doctor in the practice!! So getting an appointment with her is tricky and she is booked two months in advance! I hope I don't end up seeing other doctors because she is too busy. If that is the case, then I will just go with the doctor who took my old doctor's spot at the practice. I will just have to wait and see how things unfold.
Well, this will be my last entry here on the preconception diaries. I feel comfortable enough to move on to the Pregnancy Today diaries. It is a scary move because in the back of my mind I keep thinking "what if" but I just need to take the leap and not be such a worry wart.
Please look for my diary on the Pregnancy Today site and continue to follow along with me in my pregnancy journey. The next couple months are going to be very exciting as we hear the baby's heartbeat for the first time.
As usual, good luck to you all and I hope to see many of you graduating soon.
Best regards,
Gerri K
