Jerri's Diary Entries

Diary Navigation:

August 2, 2000

Wow, this will be my most exciting TTC entry so far. Obviously, if we get PG, that one will be more than exciting, but for now ... here is the story.

My mom came into Atlanta on Friday night for the weekend. So, I told her about the IUI and what the procedures were. She wondered about all the fertility monitors and OPKs just laying around so I had to explain. On Saturday we shopped until we dropped. On Saturday afternoon, I got a POSITIVE on the OPK. The one and only day I couldn't get the IUI was Sunday so ... now what? I cramped late Saturday night and had basically given up hope. On Sunday, OPK was still positive but by Sunday night (I was a OPK testing nut), I got a negative.

On Monday morning, I got up mad at the world. I was sleeping very well so temps were not helping me at all. I picked a fight with Rodman just because I was upset -- I guess and told him I didn't need him for this anyway, (boy, I don't know how I thought I would get PG alone).

I called my doctor first thing to tell her what happened and she said, "lets do it" since my temp hadn't actually spiked yet. So, then ... I had to apologize for being ugly and ask Rodman to please come off the 15th floor of this construction site and give me the "specimen." He did! And, didn't complain one bit. Talk about shocked beyond belief. I worked a little while, picked Rodman up from work, coaxed a specimen out of him, dropped it off, went back to work, picked the specimen back up and then STRAIGHT TO THE GOOD DOC'S FOR IUI.

My doctor is very optimistic about the situation from the standpoint that I Od on Saturday night/Sunday morning. She said that the last one she did under those circumstances worked. Her concern was with the terrible sample that Rodman had. We have known that he has a low count and low motility, but according to the wash, the very few that are swimming were NOT going anywhere. So, she says putting them way up there by the egg is as good as it gets.

syringe I go on 5 DPO to have my progesterone tested. Otherwise, the big wait is on ... I have included a picture of the syringe that the specimen was prepared in for the IUI. I just love that kind of thing!

So, now, if you are not close to your O time, cross everything you have and pray for me. If you are near O, you can uncross your legs but please cross your eyes, and fingers and toes!! If you haven't voted this time, go vote for me!

Thanks for letting me share and send me those ++++++++++++++++++++++ vibes !!!!!!!!!!!!!
