Jerri's Diary EntriesDiary Navigation: |
March 8, 2001
Where do I start? I waited until this morning to write my entry because I had it all carefully planned in my head that I was going to share my journey with you using my entry about the roller coaster but....I am just not in a very creative mood this morning and I am just going to give it to you straight and simple. I think it is great that you guys even wanna hear about it and I am very sorry that my creative instincts are on a hiatus. Work is very hard right now, one phrase, "tax season in the tax business"! That should tell you why I can't muster too much energy for writing. But, I have plenty of energy for TTC, or so it seems. I was a bundle of excitement yesterday when I left the new RE's office and even into the afternoon. I made so many mistakes at work, I thought I was on the verge of being fired. I just wanted to jump up and down and scream and yell. I did get to give the good news to DH as I was coming out of RE's office because he called but didn't have anyone else to share it with. So, here goes the scoop.
I loved the NP that I saw. I still have to gather a couple of pieces of information from my doc that didn't make it to the new clinic for some reason and I do have to wait on AF to arrive but then, this is the plan.....
In the meantime between now and getting af, dh and I have to have our blood typed, I had mine drawn yesterday and I am going to make arrangements for him to get his done very soon.
CD 1 --- call for appt for u/s to be done on cd 3 and hsg to be repeated on cd 5;
CD 3--- have baseline u/s to make sure that there are no cysts on ovaries and if they are all clean, get prescription for 100 mgs of clomid (I took 50 before and I o'd but this doc thinks that o'ing on cd 19 with clomid is too late and wants to try to force it to happen earlier...all I can say is folks any where in my path better beware next cycle b/c clomid turns me into a MONSTER)
CD 5 --- get hsg done, if tubes are open, proceed as planned, if tubes are closed, stop taking clomid and forget it, if tubes are blocked and can be unblocked, proceed as planned
CD 9 --- start opk (I'll probably use my fertility monitor instead but that is the same I guess)
CD 10 or so --- have a mid/cycle u/s to see what follicles look like, if good size on with the plan, if not, u/s the next day and the next until follicles are good size and then on with the plan....
Whenever follicles are good....get gonal-f shot to mature and release eggs or whatever the heck that stuff does.
Next day....get IUI!!!!!
At 7dpo...blood work to check progesterone
This doc did say that they had a huge success rate with folks in my situation. And she said that my problems were more extensive than some folks she had seen but she felt good about it as long as tubes were open. She said most of their patients were pg in 6 months or less when they traveled the route that I am taking!!!!! And, she said if there weren't most moved on to IVF, which is basically out of the question for us, so PRAY HARD!!!
That is it in a nutshell! Still working on getting dh a truck so that I don't have to drive him to work and back. Getting up 2 hours earlier than I have to is killing me. So, I am off to the dreaded wait ....I am cd 17 and expecting a short cycle since I am fairly certain I didn't O. Oh, one more thing, I explained that my insurance was changing on April 1 and we didn't know what the coverage would be exactly so the NP said we would try to get at least one IUI done before then so insurance could foot the bill for that one.
Thanks for listening or reading! Talk to me, talk to me, talk to me!!!
Love,
JAM
