Argh!

Ever have one of those weeks where EVERYTHING that could possible go wrong does?! I just have to vent about the absolutely crappy week that I've had! Of course, I wasn't happy to start because AF showed, but that was only the beginning. Sunday morning I backed out of our driveway and into the car across the street - nice one, Laura. I have a perfectly clean driving record, great insurance rates, and I go and dent a car in the street! It was a girl who was babysitting across the street, and I talked to her and said I'd rather pay her than get insurance involved, if she didn't care, and to let me know. She was very nice about it and appreciated me telling her. I felt like a huge heel. I haven't heard from her and it's been almost a week. It wasn't a terribly bad dent, but it did hit two peices of the car, so both of those would probably need to be replaced. This is not a good time to be spending extra money with all the IUI money we've been paying out.

Moving on through my week, I was busily trying to get my grad. class project done. So, I took the day off school on Thursday, when it was due, to make sure I had enough time to finish it. I went to leave and locked myself out - great! After walking to my sister's to get the key (she lives a few blocks from us), I am off to school to get to financial aid before my class to straighten out yet another paperwork error with my student loan. They still have not paid my fall tuition, so I had to get the hold taken off before I could register for January classes. Of course, when I finally did get it all straightened out to register, the one and only class I need being offered that term is full. I left a pleading email and message for the professor, and I hope to hear back from him soon.

As if things couldn't get any better, yesterday was payday. I have direct deposit, and the school district's bank (this is a big school district we're talking about, not some mom and pop operation) did not send the direct deposits in, so I didn't get paid. They said it would be in by the end of the day yesterday, but it wasn't. So, today I called the bank and they said it won't be in until Monday. No problem, except that I'd arranged to have our mortgage deducted from our account and there weren't enough funds to cover it. So, after spending an hour on the phone with the mortgage people I arranged to have it taken out Monday. What is the deal with not being paid on time? If I was in a small organization, or maybe an hourly employee with an odd schedule, I'd understand. But the whole purpose of having a full-time job is the stability of getting a paycheck every payday! Grrrrrrr!

Okay, having said all that, I will say that things are starting to turn. We celebrated Christmas tonight with my immediate family, since my sister, BIL, niece and nephew will be away over the holidays. We really had a lovely time and my niece in nephew were very sweet and cute tonight, which is always fun to watch (and not always so common with 2 & 4 year olds). And, I only have three days left of school before a two-week break (YAY!), AND we're approaching our 2nd IUI next week - probably the 23rd and 24th, if all goes like it did last month. I hope so, because if it falls on X-Mas we have to skip that day and do it a different day, or only do one IUI. So, I'm hoping that this will work out for us.

I hope that we all get our wishes granted this holiday season and in 2002! I'm excited for all the babies that are about to be born to my former precon. teammates, and I'm looking forward to some good news around here - seems about time, doesn't it?!

Take Care,
Laura
