Hi All,
Well, I am in much better spirits today, although I can't say that I'm bouncing back as well as I used to. I'm still a bit "raw," and it doesn't help that the clomid is starting again, so I'm strappin' in for the roller coaster ride my reproductive system has turned into!
It was suggested by some other readers/writers that I look into the IUIs with Clomid. We had decided that htis would probably be our last month before moving on to the RE, so I went ahead and got a referral from my dr. yesterday and made some phone calls today. The first place I called, the dr. that my own doctor used for her IVF (and for her upcoming one for baby #2), gave me an appointment date of October 29. This is good, because it gives me two more months on Clomid (or maybe one month and then a month off). However, I am really confused as to which RE I should go to. I live in a large metropolitan area, yet surprisingly I can't find any drs. between home and work, or near my home or work. This is an issue since they pretty much do all their procedures, like blood tests and ultrasounds, in the morning. There are two offices I called today. The dr. I made the appoinment with is 20 min. south of my house, so that would be a 45 min. plus drive into work after having bloodwork, u/s, etc, but they open 30 min. earlier than the one that's farther north of my work. I figure I'll have to take sick days for the IUIs themselves, but I can't exactly show up late for work or take a sick day whenever I have to do things at the dr's office. Unfortunately, with teaching it's not like I can take a shorter lunch and come in later. I have to be at school by 8:00 every day. So, I'm wondering what I can do about that. I guess I've got a while to figure it out. Heck, maybe I'm just not giving this Clomid time and it'll only take a cycle or two more. Then this won't even be an issue (wishful thinking)! Any opinions on what I should do or how to juggle RE appointments with a very inflexible work schedule?
Another question I have is about the HCG shots. A friend of mine conceived on Clomid with an HCG shot, with both children, and never had to do IUI's. My dr. said she doesn't put much stock in them and feels that IUI's are a more effective use of time. Any thoughts on that?
Well, I am just full of questions today, aren't I? Oh, before I go, I need to give a movie review. I figure since Corrinne has moved on I should do my part! We saw both "Rat Race" and "The Musketeer" this weekend. I laughed hysterically through Rat Race! It was just a very funny, mindless kind of movie that was easy to watch. Considering the week I'd had, it was perfect. I give it 3 1/2 babies. The Musketeer was your typical cheesey, no-plot, sword-fighting action flick. It was okay and had a couple of neat scenes, but all in all was just hokey. I give it 2 babies, unless you really like sword fights, in which case I might give it 2 1/2.
Okay, Ocho and I are off to the vet. now, so that's all for this week! I hope everyone has a great one!
Take care,
Laura
