November 23, 1999
Wow, it's been almost a month since I last updated! I'm sorry it's been so long. I lost my internet connection for a bit and then I missed the deadline for sending in my entry for last week.Well, my original appointment with the gyn/ob was supposed to be on November 17th. I left early to catch my bus. (I will be taking my drivers license test in February! yah! ) I got to the bus stop and noticed that I forgot my bus fare at home so I had to come all the way back. I ended up missing that bus but I wasn't too worried as the next bus would get me there on time. So we are traveling down the road when a car cuts another off and then slams his brakes on so the second car ended up bouncing into him and then into the bus. Good thing no one was hurt, but it meant we all had to get off that bus and wait for the next one. Of course, it never fails, every time you have somewhere to be the bus is always late. Anyways, I ended up getting to the doctor's office 35 minutes late, so I couldn't get in to see her. I had to make another appointment for the following week. What a hassle! From the moment I left the house until I arrived home was nearly 4 hours!
So today was my next appointment. I was just telling Jason the other day that I really hoped that this gyn/ob was worth the wait. I've been waiting for this since the end of August. I've heard some pretty bad stories from overweight ladies going to see their doctors about TTC so I was quite cautious. So the receptionist did the standard taking of my blood pressure and weighing me. I finally got in to see the doctor and she was super nice!! She asked me a whole bunch of questions about my medical history and gave me her full attention. She was very informative and assured me that a large portion of women that come in to see her have the same problem as I do. I have irregular periods and I don't seem to ovulate. She talked to me about clomiphene citrate (Clomid) and how I'll be taking it to help bring on ovulation so that I actually have a chance at getting pregnant. I already knew that I was most likely going to be prescribed it since I've done a lot of research. Since I'm currently on CD87 she said I can either wait for AF to arrive by itself or I can take some progesterone pills for 10 days to induce it. Of course I decided to take the pills! I want to get the ball rolling!! :) So we talked a little more about my next cycle and what I needed to do and when and then I was off to the lab for a few more blood tests.
So tonight I start the first of 10 days worth of progesterone pills. I have to take two each night before bed as she said they may cause sleepiness. After AF arrives I take 50mg of Clomid on days 3 through 7 and I should ovulate about a week after the last pill. (Crossing fingers) As soon as AF arrives I am to call and make another appointment for CD28 or so to see the results of the cycle. I hope that I'll have a ++++ test that day and I won't need any more Clomid :)
My mother called earlier this evening to find out how my appointment was. She's known for about a year that we have been TTC. I don't think it really sunk in until now. The realization that I could be pregnant by the new year really hit her. She started yelling and ended up waking up my sister who came running downstairs to find out what all the commotion was about. She passed the phone off to my sister and as I was telling her about my positive appointment and all the news I could hear my mother in the background muttering about due dates and such. My mother gave birth to my sister on her birthday, September 12, so of course she's rooting for a baby around the same time. If I end up getting pregnant on this cycle I do believe my EDD would be sometime in September. Talk about optimism! :)
It's nearly winter and Christmas is just around the corner. I love the Christmas season. We don't get much snow around here, mostly just rain but I love all the lights, decorations, the feel in the air. :)
Well I think that's about it for now, I hope this entry comes to you in good health and happiness.
Take Care,
-Erin
