Introduction

Well, Ladies!! Where do I begin?

AF still hasn't reared her ugly head... and this time I hope she never does! I am pregnant! It's amazing that it happened now, because we were not trying and never expected it this soon!

Around day 60 or so I started talking to all kinds of people about what was going on with my body. Most of that was on the "TTC after Miscarriage" discussion board, but also included my mother and sister-in-law and some close friends. My temps stayed at exactly 98.6 for about a week, and I was so utterly confused! I tried not to get my hopes up, since I was pretty sure it was impossible for me to be pregnant so soon. All I wanted was a wake-up call.. someone to tell me that there was no way I was PG and to just forget about it. On the discussion board everyone told me that it DID sound like I could be PG (smart ladies there!). I didn't want to test (I knew DH didn't want me to either) because I was afraid to know, but finally my SIL gave me the wake-up call I needed. She wrote me this long e-mail about how I wasn't helping me or anybody else by not knowing the truth and blah, blah, blah.. Well, I ran right out that day and bought one (two, actually, because I was certain the first one would be negative). I peed on the stick and then left the room for three minutes, afraid to look at it.

When I went back, there was a very distinctive plus sign. I was flabbergasted!! I even called the company that makes them to find out if it could be a false positive because of the miscarriage. I found out that it would only read positive for about 24 days after a miscarriage, and it had been 4 months for me!

So there you have it, the wonderful news! I consider this a miracle baby, and I just hope that this will be the one I actually get to hold and kiss and sing lullabies to.. Carl and I have decided not to tell anyone until the second trimester, just in case we miscarry again. I, of course, couldn't keep my mouth shut and told everyone on the discussion board, my parents, my brother and his wife, and a friend from work; I swore them all to secrecy. We aren't even telling DH's kids yet. My stepdaughter was very excited the first time, and I don't want her to be disappointed again.

Oh, and even though being PG is the most exciting news I have, there is some more to tell.. I took my first math test on Monday and I got 100 percent on it!!!.. and I got an A+ on my second English paper!! This college thing seems to be working out alright for me this time.

One more thing.. I got the dreaded flu. I'm still trying to get over it. Ironically, it was the day after I found out I was PG that I came down with it. I'm glad I knew I was PG, because all the flu medications out there are NOT safe for pregnant women.. but it was (still is) tough to deal with the symptoms of the flu along with the symptoms of PG. The only lingering symptom I have is this cough that makes me gag. As if morning sickness were not enough!!

Well, I guess I have to leave you now.. I know I just got here, but it all happened so fast! I wish the same luck on all of you TTCers out there! Thanks for reading!

Take care,

Diana
