Katrina and Karl's Diary Entries

Diary Navigation:

September 7, 1999

Hello everyone,

Whew! What a weekend. I love having that extra day off...but it sure seemed to fly by faster than a normal 2 day weekend. I'm still struggling with my sinus infection. I'm now on week 5 of antibiotics. This is getting old, really fast!

I'm now post ovulation and this waiting part is tormenting me. How do you women deal with the period from O to AF? I have no idea how long my cycle will be this month, so that seems to make the waiting worse. I had my hair cut today and my stylist is pregnant. She is at 29 weeks and looks so beautiful and happy. I thought I would be jealous....but I'm just so happy for her and hope that I will look/feel as good as she does when my time comes. ;-)

Karl and I looked at two houses last week. Neither one impressed us, which I guess is good since we don't want to move until the new year. We are looking now so that we will know what we want when we find it (I'm really picky!).

+++++ thoughts, Katrina

Katrina's mom is in town this week, and we spent a lot of time with her and my folks. It's been very tempting to tell them that we're trying to get pregnant, but we agreed in advance that we wouldn't say anything just yet. We felt that it would be safer to wait until we were far enough in a pregnancy that we wouldn't get everybody's hopes up too early. It's been tough, though, because it's pretty obvious that both families are getting antsy for grand kids. My parents have four already, but the youngest is 8 and everybody's dropping hints about how it's time for another baby in the family. Katrina is an only child, and her mom is obviously ready for her first grandchild. So for now, we just change the subject when baby talk comes around. I'm sure that everyone will be overjoyed when we can share some good news.

Katrina is still very anxious to find out if she's pregnant, but she's doing better than last month. I'm anxious too, but I guess that I'm a little more confident than she is. Her doctor recommended not even trying to conceive until she's been off the birth control pills for a month. I'm guessing that is to prevent people from getting frustrated too early. In any event, I'm going to wait a few more months until I start getting nervous.

Enjoying sharing our situation,
Karl
