Jennifer's Diary Entries

Diary Navigation:

September 2, 2003

Hi! Sorry for the delay on my first real entry. I was on vacation (my parents were visiting from FL).
There is so much for me to catch up on—where to begin?

Cycles 1-3 The Post-BCP Follies

My cycles before I was on BCP were pretty harrowing—lots of discomfort and unexplained bleeding as well as irregularity in duration. I really love BCPs, by the way! When DH and I started TTC in January 2002, I fully expected that it would take us a while given how insane my previous cycles were. I never anticipated how right I was!

CYCLE 1
My first cycle off BCPs wasn’t too bad. I was charting from day 1 (I’m a control freak) and my chart was pretty screwy looking. However, compared to what was to come this was a great looking chart! ;) I possibly O’d around CD 18, but given DH’s hectic work schedule we didn’t BD much. I started spotting around CD 28 and figured it was a 30 day cycle. Why figured? Well when you spot/bleed as much as I do, you’re never sure!

CYCLE 2
There was no clear temp shift this cycle so I’m not 100% sure when or if I even O’d. I never got a + OPK, but we did BD a lot more this time! Yehaw! My post-O temps don’t always stay high (even when my Progesterone levels are great!) so even when I do O it doesn’t always reflect in my charts (lovely, eh?). I started spotting on CD 30 and I estimated that the cycle length was 31 days.

CYCLE 3
Since OPKs aren’t very useful with irregular cycles I pulled out the big guns and bought a FM. After 11 days of High readings I finally got the beloved Peak on CDs 18-19. But wait! Nothing is ever that easy for me. I had AF for 6 days and then spotting on CD 13 & 14. The spotting started up again (with a vengeance) on CD 25. Not much of an LP! I counted all the days of spotting (which was pretty heavy at times) as part of this cycle and guessed it was 30-31 days long. But things were definitely getting progressively worse. As luck would have it, I had my annual exam that cycle and my GYN ran a progesterone test on me (CD 21) which was 9.8…not bad for only being a couple of days post-O, but he termed me a “C-“ Ovulator just the same. Hey at least I tried!?! :) He decided that the best course of action was to put me on Clomid.

Because this entry is already so long, I’ll save the Clomid Chronicles for next time. Trust me, that’s when things get really interesting!

Oh and if you want to peak at my charts (well some of them!) here’s the link http://f1.pg.photos.yahoo.com/jmdbaby2002

Please feel free to come chat with me on my "Talk to Me Board"--I swear I won't bite!
