Jennifer's Diary Entries

Diary Navigation:

March 29, 2004

Well today was another visit to the RE. The nurse did my u/s again (Dr. H was doing other stuff) and she asked how I was and I said "fine" (yes, very unemotionally) and she just laughed at me. She started the u/s which hurt like hell and at first there was nothing to see and then like before viola! The little one. It's amazing how much he/she has grown in one week--the nurse did measurements and I saw an EDD of 11/16 which freaked me out and then 11/12--she finally she asked my EDD and when I told her 11/11 she did another measurement to make sure she got it to that date. Too funny--guess she didn't want to upset the circus freak. ;) The heartbeat was 130--she said 120-140 is the normal and it changes depending on what the embryo is doing. Neat! She said next week we'll be able to see arms and legs. WOW. She poked around trying to find anything that could be making me feel crappy and came up with nothing--everything looks perfect.

I asked about my wacky GYN and she asked Dr. H. Apparently he doesn’t know anything about him, but has heard less than stellar things from patients (apparently the guy is weird. Really? I never noticed. ;)). So Dr. H thought a bit and came up with some recommendations--he said there's no benefit of going to a huge hospital (we have lots of places nearby) and delivering at the cute local place where Chris had his surgery last year is fine (yeah!). I asked if the doctors he recommended were used to dealing with people like me, and Dr. H laughed and said of course they are; if they weren't they'd be sending me to OTHER special doctors like they do with some of their patients (I assume he was talking about the real wack jobs!). He was going to move my appointments to every 2 weeks, but I must have looked like I was going to cry because he said "Unless you need every week. Or twice a week, perhaps." Man, am I really that bad? I said that once a week would put my mind at ease. Thank you very much.

I'm spotting now, but I feel really sore thanks to the u/s so it's no surprise. :( I started to have much more queasiness over the weekend so I suspect I'll be a mad hurler in another week or so. ;)
