March 2, 2004
Today is my birthday. I have 40 minutes left until I officially cross over to (gulp) 31. I'm certainly not in any mood to celebrate, but I am focusing on what I have accomplished so far in my life instead of only seeing what I don't have. Easier said than done, of course. I know that I've done well for myself--I have a nice house, financial stability, a lovely husband, two silly cats, and lots of friends and family who love me. So what if my decision at 19 to drop pre-med because what was the point of going to med school when I was just going to be a SAHM has proved a laughable misperception? I might have hated being a doctor anyway. ;) Besides then I'd actually have a job where I do work on a daily basis and couldn't just surf the 'Net and e-mail people all day. I'm sure having a fulfilling career is highly overrated.
As an aside, this is the 4th age I'll be since TTC (I was 28 when we started). Yuck.
I have no idea what Chris has in store for me--I told him I don't want to do anything tonight nor do I want anything in particular for a gift. I do plan on having a wild weekend should my intuition prove true. I've never been a partier...hell I've never even smoked a cigarette, but I think I need to go on a drinking spree and just really let loose for once. :)
I hope you are all well!
Jen aka the older woman (Chris is about 2 months younger than me so he relishes pointing out that he'll still be 30 when I'm 31!).
