We have eggs!!!
My ER went great! It was actually "fun"! Everyone was joking with us--the nurse commented on Chris' choice of porn in the room and how his part is enjoyable. ;) The anesthesiologist was nice--he had a thick accent though so it was hard to understand him and he was very gabby. He ended up putting the IV in my arm this time—apparently I was so cold/nervous that the veins on my hands had collapsed. He said my skin coloring was very unhealthy (I was blue—but it was so COLD in there and all I had on was a crappy hospital gown). Dr. H was there in all of his glory! I told him how much I trust him and he was touched--he said he trusts me too (thus the devil dog V-Day dessert for his wife). I told him
I've never killed anyone with my baking and I assume he's never killed anyone doing what he does. ;) He ran around the room knocking on all the wood he could find. Too funny. I also found out that Dr. H's birthday is 2-3 days before my (depends on Leap Year). No wonder I like him so much! ;)
I remember much more of what happened this time—being in the OR (except for the actual retrieval). And guess what?!? They got 16 eggs out of me! I asked Dr. H how they looked...and he said "like eggs." Ugh. ;) Last time he told me they looked great, but I guess my smart-assedness is contagious. My blood pressure was fine this time and again my left ovary hurt a bit, but Tylenol solved that. When I got up, Isaid that I was trying not to flash everyone (gown was open in the front) since it's not such a good sight. The nurse was cracking up. Dr. H said that Chris and I are always funny. Awww. :)
I'm feeling great—we even went to McDonald's for lunch (healthy, I know!). I tried to sleep afterwards, but Tess kept waking me up. I was in some pain later that night, but not enough to get my butt off the couch in search of Tylenol. I was up every 1-2 hours last night though—I couldn’t stop peeing! I think that might have been the progesterone. We started the PIO shots last night and I also started my antibiotics and prednisone. So who knows what it was (could have been the chocolates I ate too—bad, bad Jen!).
Fert Report
The embryologist just called. We had 11 fertilize but only 9 are viable. That sort of sucks since I had 9 last cycle too (out of 11)!
Anyway,
2 ended up with 3 pronuclei (so two sperm got in) and had to be discarded.
3 weren't fertilizable (not sure why--too mature/too immature I assume)
2 were mature but didn't fert. (very slight chance that they still can)
Chris' swimmers were stellar as usual. ;)
They aren't sure when my transfer will be. If I have 6-8 really good ones then they might let them got to blast and just hope that 1-2 make it (not likely to have any to freeze) or they might play it safe and do day 3 again. The embryologist seems inclined to day 5--she said they just need to get me PG already and not worry about future cycles! She's going to talk to Dr. H and will let me know what the deal is tomorrow...
IVF(2) Revisited—The cycle that keeps on giving!
I got another bill for my last IVF—it never seems to end. At Christmas time it was $3100—we were told not to worry about it, it was a billing error. But yesterday (perfect timing), I got a revised bill for $2100! Mind you, I’m very luck to have insurance pay for IVF, but they should cover everything that they say they do! IVF #1 only cost me $10 copays! So once again, I have to call the billing office and see what the deal is. I think we might owe $1000 for the embryo freezing (it might not be covered), but the other $1100 was for the transfer. UGH.
Tess and Fin
Good news--Tess and Fin are better! Tess still growls at him, but Fin doesn't seem to mind. I was able to cancel their visit to the vet too! Last night we keep them in the same room for a few hours and they just watched each other carefully (Fin did mess with her a few times—he’s such a brat). After awhile though they started to get aggressive so we separated them again. I’m hoping that in time we’ll be back to a peaceful home!
