What a Truly Nice Weekend
I had a very nice weekend. I mean really, really enjoyable. Saturday I had lunch with my IVF buddies and we talked for 4 hours! I bet Dr. H’s ears were really burning. ;) Then Sunday, Chris and I drove to MA to have a birthday luncheon with my sister, bil, and aunt. It was nice to feel connected to my family again. It seems like lately all our family time is with Chris’ wacko relatives so it was nice to regroup with mine (yes, they are a bit wacky too!).

Day 5
I had my u/s this morning and all is well! I have 7 follicles on the right (all less than 10mm) and 5 on the less (these are a little bigger, but not too much so). My lining is 6mm and Dr. H said that’s really good for this early in the game. I have a few more follicles this time than last time, but you never know what will change. I’m just pleased that there aren’t less! I will admit that I am happy so far with my response and I really think this new protocol is beneficial! As long as my E2 is ok then we’ll keep things status quo. I return to the office on Wednesday for my next check.

You’ll all be glad to know that Dr. H was back to his usual “awwww love him” self today. So that in itself makes me a happy camper!

This Cycle
So far the twice a day shots are going well. I’ve only inflicted one small bruise on myself (although my belly looks like a dart board with all the little needle marks). I readily admit that Gonal-F is far superior to Follistim. I can’t even feel the medicine during or after the shots—no icing or swearing needed! The only issue that I’m having (of course there would be at least one—this is me after all) is headaches. I’m not sure if it’s the HCG or the Gonal-F, but about an hour after I do my shots I get a headache and they don’t seem to be going away. It’s nothing intolerable, but it’s definitely present. I’ve also got the standard side/ovary pain that comes and goes (but I like that—at least I know something is going on in there!). Of course a few more days and I’ll be really uncomfortable. I’m also suffering from insta-bloat this time. I swear two minutes after my first shot and my belly is already swollen like a dead fish. And the funny part is it’s lopsided! The side that I do my injection on is a little bigger than the other half of my belly (hardly noticeable to any less obsessive eye). I alternate sides, but it still happens. I’m a freak!

I hope all is well with everyone!
