5 Weeks down, 35 to go!

Hey everyone!

First of all, I have to say a warm congratulations to Corinne and Carmajo. You've both been trying so long and have wanted this so much -- I am thrilled that we will be sharing all of this at the same time.

I am still feeling fine -- and like a normal, rational person (NOT!), this is freakin' me out! I am a bit more hungry and I have twinges of nipple sensitivity, but that's it really. The crampiness is more sporadic now than it was last week. I know lots of people have symptom free pregnancies -- and this is still VERY early in the game, but I can't help but worry just a bit.

I had a doctors appt. yesterday where they gave me the book about medical treatment in Alberta. She gave me a requisition for blood for my first major prenatal. We also discussed some of my concerns and fears. I was really impressed that she spent about a half an hour with me. I also had to fill out a tonne of forms! My Dr. is located in a breastfeeding clinic and that day was weigh-in day for all the one-month olds. There must have been 20 of the little ones in there! There was woman with twins who looked like she was rady to have a nervous breakdown. Everyone was offering to hold one of her babies for her!

I don't get my first ultrasound until 16 weeks!! This totally shocked me -- and I will definitely be asking about this when I go to my full prenatal exam (August 29). I read this in the information booklet. I certainly hope they use a doppler to find the heartbeat, because I really don't want to wait that long to make sure my baby is growing OK!!

We have told our parents and family. I haven't told anybody else yet. Maybe once the jitters die down a bit I'll be feeling confident enough to tell some of my close friends.

I have bought the Girlfriends' Guide to Pregnancy, Pregnancy Week by Week and What to Expect when You're Expecting. I'm almost done the Girlfriends' book and I'd recommend it to anyone who wants a lighthearted, no holds barred view of pregnancy. I've laughed throughout it. DH reads the journal entry to me every morning from Pregnancy Week by Week. I think it fascinates him to read all that's happening inside of me.

I am FINALLY sleeping again. Instead of the fatigue I've read all about I've been WIRED! I didn't sleep for four nights. Last night I crashed and slept like a log. Ahhhhhh sleep!

We are looking to buy a digital camera in the next couple of weeks. All of my family and many of my friends live all over Canada and the United States. So I would love to be able to share pictures of my growth, nursery photos etc. via email. Anybody have a digital camera that they'd recommend?

Well, this is long enough now! Until next week -- positive thoughts to all!
