Hello everyone!
Well, I'm back from my trip out East. We had a fabulous time. Despite all of my bellyaching about the weather -- it was sunny every day we were there! That's almost unheard of this time of the year. Now, there was still snow up to your eyeballs -- but it's melting away.
My husband was very impressed with St. John's. We got to do a bunch of touristy stuff outside of the wedding festivities. I'm getting my photos back this week - maybe I'll try to post one (although I've been hearing from other writers that that's a bit of a challenge!).
We came back last night and I gotta say -- I don't know which end is up! The time difference is 3 1/2 hours. So I feel hungry at 10 am and I want to go to sleep at suppertime! I hope by tomorrow I feel better. It's almost like being hungover -- your internal clock is just all messed up!
I am looking for advice on how, if possible, to deal with insane neighbors. Now, here's the story. Our new subdivision is ready for fence building. So everyone got together and decided on a fence. One couple (the people behine us), never showed up. Oh well, we have to pay for it, no biggie we can handle that. Well, last week DH was digging to find the property pin between our two properties, and he hit a rock. We are the only people in our neighborhood with grass yet -- so everything around us is still dirt. But we own 12 inches on the other side of a swail that is not grassed, as that's where the fence is going. So DH left a pile of dirt on this area and went to buy a bar to pry out the rock. When he returned, the neighbors had shouveled all the dirt onto our lawn! Now, it was on our property anyway (which I guess they don't realize), but even if it wasn't -- they have no lawn!! What does it matter.
But we were off to Nfld. the next day and didn't think twice about it. When we got back last night, the people who live next to them came over, all agitated. The Bobcat had come to dig the post holes and they started on their property. Now, they share a line with the psychos. When the Bobcat was there, the "lady" of the house comes screaming out yelling to get the Bobcat off their property and that they couldn't dig the holes because she hadn't approved the fact that this was the property line! Now, my neighbors had marked the posts three weeks ago and she waits until now to freak. Plus -- the fence will be hers as well, she's getting a fence for free as they won't pay -- but she won't let them do it. The Bobcat kept trying from the one side, but the lady freaked if dirt came on her side and kept stopping him. In frustration, the Bobcat person went home.
She then calmed down and said to the neighbor that she was upset that the fence wasn't what she wanted (yeah -- she's not paying and... ergs!) and that, because the land was still wet, their dirt was getting a bit chewed up. My normal neighbor apologized and said he'd make sure that everything on their property was smoothed out.
So, he goes by last night to say the Bobcat is coming by again tomorrow, and is she OK with everything -- and she lost it again. He asked if it was OK if they drove on her dirt to dig our holes as we have grass and it would chew it up a bit. She ABSOLUTELY refused -- saying she didn't care if our grass was ruined -- she didn't want her dirt disturbed!!!!!!!!! They aren't planting grass for two more months! Then she said she was going to build the fence she wanted onto ours -- which of course would make it collapse. So the end of this story is.... my neighbor was over to suggest we build the fences 6 inches into our properties so they can't touch it. Nice eh? The psychos have by far the biggest lot in the neighborhood (at least double ours), and now we'll have to lose space because we don't want them to wreck something. What would you do??? DH is going over there tonight to try and reason with them. They have 5 kids -- poor things. I can't imagine growing up like that!
OK -- that was a rant!
I saw Bridget Jones' Diary last week and I laughed myself silly. I also read the sequel on the plane and that too was a hoot. I got a bit confused in book two when she was interviewing Colin Firth for her job, and then telling the character Mark Darcy about it. When in the movie Mark Darcy is played by Colin Firth!
Anyway, I hope everyone's having a great week! Congrats to Tracy and Jackie!!Positive thoughts to all.
Jenn
