April 16, 2001

Hey guys!

Hope everyone had a great Easter. We had a whole pile of people to our place. We started off by inviting four people, but by the time Easter arrived -- we had 14 people at our house! We had to rent a table and chairs because we didn't have anything anywhere near that big. But I cooked a feast. I made ham, turkey, stuffing, potatoes, sweet potatoes, turnip, carrots, broccoli, corn, cranberry sauce (homemade!) and salad. And I made a strawberry shortcake for dessert. I cooked the whole day -- and by then you're too tired to eat! But everyone seemed to enjoy and the leftovers are minimal.

We are heading East this week to my cousin's wedding in Newfoundland. Now, for those of you who don't know where Newfoundland is -- it's as far east as you can go in Canada and we live in the West. Newfoundland has pretty crummy weather -- it usually rains all winter and the temps are around the freezing mark. Well, this year the temps went down a couple of degrees -- and they have...... are you ready??? They have over 20 feet of snow on the ground!!! And since it doesn't usually snow that much there -- they don't have the snow clearing equipment, so the place is a disastor area! And it is now starting to melt -- and flooding everything. So needless to say -- I am going there with mixed emotions! April has one weather forecast in Nfld. Rain, drizzle and fog. DH has never been, and I can imagine what he's going to think! But all my family, with the exception of my parents, lives there. So DH will get to meet all the people who couldn't come to our wedding. And our bridesmaids dresses are very pretty -- at least I'm not in powder pink chiffon!! And I know my cousin will make a beautiful bride!

Has anyone read/seen Brigit Jones's Diary? I have been trying to buy it to read on the airplane (it's almost 7 hours there!), and all the stores seem to be sold out. If I can read it, then I will see the movie when I get back. Jenny W. liked the book but I haven't heard from anyone who's seen the movie?

Hockey play-offs are here -- and I have NOT been impressed so far. The Senators are my team, and they have lost the first two games to the Maple Leafs. And I know I'm going to tick off a bunch of Leafs fans here -- but the Leafs are terrible (not that I'm biased)!! So man, this is embarrasing!

Well, I think that's all that's new from here. Hope everyone has a good week!

Positive thoughts to all
Jenn
