Jennifer's Diary Entries

Diary Navigation:

Introduction

Happy new year 2001!

I am both sad and pleased to say that this is my last journal entry for my preconception diary. I have had a great time sharing my story with all of you and making some friends, but it's time for me to move on over to the Pregnancy Today diaries. I appreciate everyone who has been so nice in posting such wonderful notes to me on my “Talk to Me” board regarding my pregnancy and the health of my mother. I hope you'll all join me over to the "other side" to share the rest of my blessed pregnancy.

To the girls out there that are still TTC, hang in there and keep your heads up high and your spirits soaring. It will happen, I'm sure of it. I think that God blesses us all when the time is right and when we least expect it. Just keep the faith and try not to get discouraged.

We went in on Dec. 18 to see if we could listen to the baby's heartbeat. I admit I was a little nervous because this was the moment where we would for sure find out if our angel was really all right. Doctor H put the goop on my belly and said that it might take a few minutes to find. She put the Doppler down on my stomach and INSTANTLY found the heartbeat! What a relief! Hearing the heartbeat was music to our ears. DH had brought his micro tape recorder so he could record the heartbeat, so Dr. H let us listen for a while to get it on tape. Dr H. told us that the heartbeat sounds perfect, my blood and urine work looked great and that everything seemed to be right on schedule. She lowered my miscarriage rate back down to less than 2 percent (which is "normal" in the first trimester) and said that things looked great. What a great day that was for us! DH and I celebrated by going out for a nice lunch and spending the afternoon talking about how wonderful things were going. A few days later we took the tape over and let both my family and his listen to the heartbeat. Everyone thought it was so sweet. I plan on making a baby time capsule and I think it will be nice to put the tape of the heartbeat in there.

We got the baby furniture from my stepsister. She was nice enough to give us the crib, mattress, changing table and high chair, which are all matching dark wood. They are very nice and look new. All we had to do was clean everything off with warm sudsy water and give it a spray of disinfectant. She also gave me two bags full of baby crib sheets. We are very grateful. I'm so excited to get started on the nursery! It will give me something to do during the spring, which I can't wait for. Nebraska has been pounded by the snow and cold weather and I have spring fever bad already!

Well, I'm battling a cold and it's about time to blow my nose for the 100th time already this morning, so I should get a move on! Thanks again everyone for sharing in my TTC journey and I hope you'll all come and visit me ...

Good luck to you all and God bless!
Hugs, Jennifer
