Hello ladies and happy May! Can you believe how fast the year is going? It just seems like a few short weeks ago that we were ringing in the new year. I can't believe that DH and I have been TTC for almost seven months!
Spring is definitely here but summer is sure trying to peek its head around the corner here in Nebraska. This week the temps are going to be in the high 70's to mid 80's. I'm sure all this warm weather will bring some thunderstorms this weekend. I love thunderstorms but don't like it when they turn severe... then I get really scared! Nebraska is part of "tornado alley" as the weather gurus say so we are all careful when the weather looks dark and gloomy.
DH and I planted our vegetable garden the Monday after Easter and we already have radishes sprouting up! Can't wait until we can harvest all our yummy veggies!!! This weekend we are putting in our tomato and green pepper plants now that the danger of a late frost is pretty much over. My mom is going to teach me to can this summer so any extra vegetables we have (and I'm sure there will be plenty), I’ll can them later for soups and other dishes.
We've been spending a lot of time out in the yard since the weather has been so nice. I've planted several different kinds of flowers and DH has been out with the new lawn mower mowing the yard and then staring at it over and over and over saying, "Just look how great that yard looks!" Ahhh... if only he felt that passionate about the laundry and dishes! Hee, hee, hee!
We got a pleasant surprise Monday evening. I've been cleaning my mom's house on Saturdays (she has two cleaning girls but they only come once every other week so she still needs someone to do the light cleaning every week) since she's been weak from her chemo treatments. Well, my mom and her husband think it's only fair that they pay my $20 every time I clean. I'm not about to take any money from them since I feel that it doesn't hurt me to help out here and there, but since I haven't been taking any money from them, and DH and I have been discussing getting a gas grill they bought us one!!!!
We were so excited and surprised! We took it right out of the box and spent the next hour and a half on our back deck putting it together. We got it done, filled the tank and were grilling by 8:30!!! I thought that was really nice of my mom and her husband and now we can grill, grill, grill! We love that! DH puffed up and said that he's going to have to start looking for some "good recipes" for marinating. I just had to laugh at that one!!!!! :-)
One last thing before I let you all go... DH got a new job! He starts this Monday at an investment company dealing with stocks and bonds. He'll be making $5,000 a year more than his current job and he gets a $2,000 hiring bonus. The money will really come in handy but DH is excited because he wants to learn how we can start doing great things with OUR money!!!! I'm so proud and happy for him because this is something he really wanted and he got it! Good job!!! I love you!
Well, this is all for now... I'm currently on day 19 and I'll keep you posted next week as to what's going on. I used an OPK this month but it didn't show positive until day 15 meaning that I would O on day 16. That's really strange for me because I always have 27or 28 day cycles. Hummm? I felt mild cramping today so I'm sure AF will show next weekend!
Until then, take care and best wishes!
~Jennifer
