Ladies,
I just had to share another entry with you this week (I guess you could say I'm making up for missing last week!) since you've
all been so kind and caring through these troubled times.
My mother got her spinal exam and other test results back yesterday (Tuesday). The results were this: she doesn't have cancer of the bones after all! The cancer in her breast is affecting her bones, but the cancer has stayed in her breast. I think that this is great news! I'm so happy that I could cry! I know that having breast cancer will still be really hard to deal with and that it's still going to be a difficult road but not having to deal with bone cancer and radiation is a blessing! Now we all having something to really be thankful for and something to be happy about.
My mom goes in today to have surgery (about an hour) to have her chemotherapy port placed and then they are going to wheel her right on down to chemo. Today is going to be a tough one for her but starting the chemo is, in my eyes, something good because the sooner you get started the faster it'll be done with! Her oncologist said that she'll have to go through about 6-9 months of chemo and that she'll have about 80% strength throughout treatment.
He wrote her a prescription for a wig (he said her hair will definitely fall out within 3-4 weeks; something my mother is dreading) and that way insurance will pay for it. Right now my mom's looking for fun baseball caps, turbans, scarves, and hats. She's looking forward to getting this all started so that the pain in her body will start going away.
So...this is the latest news, which I think is really positive. I want to give all of my readers and all of my writers on my 'talk to me' board a huge hug for all your support and prayers. It's really helped me knowing that you all care, without even knowing me or my family. Thanks you from the bottom of my heart!
Best wishes and I'll keep you posted. AF is due to show on Sunday so I'll post another entry early next week to let you know if she shows.
Hugs to you all!
~Jennifer
