July 27, 2000

Hi Girls. Hope everyone is having a good week. Lots of +++ tests out there. Congrats to all of you and I want to wish you all a happy and healthy nine months. Good Luck!

Well I went in on July 24 for my follow-up appointment. The doctor did a pelvic exam and told me that we could do one of three things:

  1. Do an ultrasound and see if all the tissue is out.
  2. Do bloodwork to check my HCG levels.
  3. Wait until the end of this week and see if the bleeding stops.

Well, we opted for option 3. She said that most likely since the "baby" was only developed to 1 and 1/2 weeks that I probably passed all the tissue on my own. And she said that if I did pass the tissue that I would quit bleeding by the end of this week. Well, the bleeding quit on Tuesday so that's good.

OK, I have a question for those of you who have had a miscarriage. I spotted for two weeks prior to the ultrasound appointment. Then the day after, I passed blood clots and bled like a normal period. Then a few days after that I passed what I think was the actual sac. Bled for two days then quit bleeding. Does this sound normal, and if so, when did you get your next period? How long was it before you got your next period? You can post on my TTM board.

She also told us that we could start trying when we want to and when we feel ready. A lot of people I have met over the net say that they had to wait one full cycle or three cycles until they could TTC again. I'm not sure why she said we could start now but maybe because they said the "baby" was only developed to 1 and 1/2 weeks. I'm not really sure, but Cory and I discussed it and we want to try again as soon as possible but think we will play it safe for a while until I have my first cycle. Just to be safe. I don't want to try too soon and lose that baby too because we started trying too soon. What do you all think?

It's been hard for us to adjust, to but we are doing great I think. I mean I know a lot of women who can't handle it at all. The way I look at it is: We are both young, we can try again and hopefully have a happy, healthy baby. I mean there isn't anything you can do to bring it back. I mean, I am grieving for the loss of my first baby and will always wonder about it, but hey, there's always more time to try. And they say that one out of four people miscarry their first and sometimes even second pregnancy so I'm glad I'm not the only one.

So that's about all for now.

I want to say thanks for all of the nice and sympathetic messages on my TTM board. Thanks for all the support I have received from all of you and from some I don't even know. THANKS AGAIN!!!!!!

Jenn
