Courtney's Diary Entries

Diary Navigation:

May 17, 2001

Okay for those of you that saw Bridget Jones Diary was it just me or did Colin Firth (he played Mark Darcy) become more attractive as the movie progressed? At first I didn't think he was good looking (might have just been the reindeer sweater) but by the end of the movie I was thinking "what a hot guy .. is he really 40 something?" I think the funniest scene is when she comes down the firepole. I still crack up just thinking about it.

Since returning from my relaxing Cuban vacation I haven't stopped working. My desk is piled with applications for admission to the Sept term, changes of status and grade reports, the phone is always ringing off the hook and students kept coming in to the counter with my name ... at one point I just wanted to pull my hair out. Then a man from telecommunications came in and made my day. He brought me a new toy ... a cordless headset for the phone. As he set it all up I was telling my co-worker I felt like Jack on Will & Grace when he was working in Bananna Republic "It's all about the Bananna" (I just love Will & Grace). Once setup I could answer the phone from anywhere in the office and I could talk and walk around at the same time ... whoever thought of this is a genius!

Just as I was starting to have fun with my busy schedule I got a call from the RE's office. My heart almost stopped when she told me she had my surgery scheduled. She tells me it is very soon and I think my heart stopped. JUNE 1ST!!!!! That's just two weeks away OH MY! After I hung up I started moving around in a daze. I told my boss I needed time off, told my co-worker that it had been scheduled and trotted off to tell my mom (she works down the hall in my building). By the time I came back I was scare to death of the surgery. I know I know it is only a lap but I think my RE freaked me out on Tuesday when I went to see him for a consultation on the lap. He informed me that he would need to make 4 incisions (one in belly button & 3 along hair line). Most people I talk to say they had only 2 incisions. My mind started reeling and hasn't stopped yet. I am sure everything will be just fine I have had surgery before (both knees & my wisdom teeth .. they had to be cut out in the hospital). I have never been nervous before our surgery. I think my nerves are coming from the fact that if the Dr does anything wrong I may never have children of my own.

After the lap the RE figured I would have to have 3 months depo lupron before ttc again. I think that would take us to about Sept. I guess a May - June baby would be good :o)

If anyone has had a lap please post your experience on my talk to me board I could really use the reassurance. Thanks!

Courtney
