February 1, 2001
Well ladies I had my cd 3 blood work today since I didn't feel that everything was "right" hormonally. I went in had the b/w done and as I was talking to the nurse she said let's have an u/s too.
So I went and got undressed up on the bed thingy and waited. The RE came in with the nurse and confirmed verbally that I was cd 3 and that I would be starting my Femara tonight. Then we started the vag u/s. Didn't hurt at all which was excellent since before the lupron I would cry when I had to have one it hurt so much.
The RE started to focus on something and then zoom closer and started printing stuff out. I noticed but .. hey whatever I thought. Then he started to talk (which he never does to me while he is doing the u/s). He said "100% of women have retroflow menstruation. Never have I ever seen it on an u/s cd 3!" This didn't really mean too much to me. I know that this is what is thought to cause endo but not sure how if it happens in all women why only 10% develop endo?
Anywho he goes on to look at my right ovary (which already had 3 follies starting and I haven't taken any meds) and then my left. He made a comment that he did not see the fluid flowing in my left fallopian tube like he did my right. Then he went back to the right and showed me what he was talking about. It seems instead of flowing out when I have af it flows into my adbominal cavity which is how come my endo returns so quickly. It would also explain why af is much lighter now than it was when I was a teenager.
He then mentions that I am not like any textbook case he has ever seen. Anything they say can happen but that you will never see .. you will with me.
Since I seem to defy all logic he thinks if I get endo again he will go in and perform a sugery called something like suspension or something like that to tie my uterus and ovaries where they should be. He thinks this might stop the amount of retroflow. Who knows but my uterus is very uncomfortable lying against my rectum. I always feel like I have to poop.
Ah I am sure you all didn't want to hear my saga from today .. but I needed to tell someone.
My monitoring starts next Saturday and goes until Feb 12. I am not going to the conference in Niagara Falls I opted instead to focus on me and ttc.
On other topics this weekend is the NHL All Star Game & the Superbowl! I am going for the Patriots in the Superbowl! I am so proud that my favourite hockey player Tomas Kaberle will be playing in his first ever NHL All Star game for the World team. How exciting is that at 23 years old!
Well I guess I should take a nap. Talk to everyone later!
