TTC# 1, Cycle 16, CD 4
Hey ladies,
Well as you can plainly see, AF arrived on Thursday, Feb. 1, three days late.
I knew she was coming so I wasn’t surprised or upset at all, just a little
weirded out that she was late - you all know by now how regular I am.
After calling the lovely Dr. G, he reassured me that sometimes when you
come off of Clomid, it takes a few more days for AF to arrive. The best
news of all was that Dr. G. told me that their main office in Rockville, MD
(close to me) is open 7 days a week! How happy was I? Very! That means
that all this IUI timing crap that I had been subjected to before is now a
thing of the past and I can go on with my TTC journey without having to
worry about the freakin’ doctor’s office being open!
I wish I had more to report on my TTC status but that is all I have until
they schedule my lap. I will obviously have more to report at that time.
OK - on to more fun (unrelated) topics...my entry today focuses on
common decency and how there appears to be so little of it in today's
society.
The Cheesecake Factory
Well, I had an experience at the Cheesecake Factory Friday night that I will not soon
forget. For those of you unfamiliar with this restaurant, it is a chain
restaurant that is not what I would call fancy by any means, but a very nice
restaurant nonetheless, where casually dressed diners can go to get some
very tasty food in a hustle and bustle atmosphere. I have eaten at this
restaurant several times and was very pleased with the food. The menu
has a large variety of options including a wide selection of some of the best
cheesecake you will ever taste outside of homemade. The service is usually
slow and the wait for a table is usually about an hour to an hour and a half
on the weekends, but still, it is worth eating there on occasion.
At any rate, Charles and I had been very good with our eating all week and
we had also gone to the gym 4 times last week so we wanted a night out
for dinner. Despite the fact that the CF can be a very fattening place to
eat, Charles and I were good, we had salads with vinaigrette (no heavy
dressing) and then we ordered tuna burgers with nothing on them and
even asked to leave the fries off the entree. We had water only and no
wine or soda. We were both so excited to have this food as we had been
so careful all week. So, the food arrives and it look absolutely delicious.
We both start eating and I am about a 1/4 through my burger when I bite
down and I suddenly feel my teeth grinding against a hard substance. I
stupidly thought it was a hard piece of lettuce stem even though it felt like
I was biting down on a glass mirror. I took the substance out of my mouth
only to discover that I had been chewing on a jagged piece of glass about
the size of 2 quarters. Luckily, I was completely unharmed as the jagged
glass piece had miraculously failed to shred the inside of my mouth or
break my teeth. Charles immediately called the waitress over to show her
and she in turn runs for the manager. The manager comes back to our
table, apologizes and says “Would you like another meal?”
It took all of my self-restraint not to yell, “NO! WHY DON’T YOU JUST LET
ME KEEP CHEWING ON THIS GLASS CONCOCTION. I HAVE ALWAYS
WANTED TO HAVE ORAL SURGERY!” I mean, really! In my opinion, we
were really too nice. We told the manager not to worry about it, that it was
no big deal, that someone had probably shattered a glass and a piece had
gotten on the burger without someone realizing it. I kept telling the
manager that I was OK and could he please just get me another burger.
25 minutes later, the waitress brings over another burger. I took one bite
only to find it was raw inside and therefore inedible. I once again called
over the waitress, showed her the burger and she said she would “see what
she could do.” See what she could do? What is there to see? It’s not like
you can wave a magic wand over the plate and fix it! All there is to do is
either get a new dinner, recook it or adjust my damn bill!
I was so disgusted by this point I simply told her to forget it, I didn’t want it
anymore and to just bring the check. So, the waitress comes back with the
check and says “The manager said since you didn’t eat the burger he would
take it off the bill.”
Now, I have to ask you all out there - is it just me or would you say they were
just a little cheap? I mean, for God’s sake - a damn piece of glass was on
my food and I was chewing on it due to the incompetence of THEIR staff
and all they want to do for me is take the burger off the bill only after they
serve me it’s replacement RAW? I mean, they had the AUDACITY to act
like they are doing me a FAVOR by giving me a free glass-burger?????
I am very sorry, but if I were the manager and such a thing had happened
to a customer, not only would the entire meal have been free, but they
would have gotten a free cheesecake as well. (Not that we would have
eaten it, but still, it is the principal of the thing)! I mean, they must not
know the meaning of the word lawsuit here. Now, I know that in a court of
law I would have no leg to stand on, because in order to collect on an
injury, I would have to show not only that the glass on my burger was due
to the restaurant’s negligence, but I would also have to show that I had
suffered damages (an injury) in order to collect. Since I had no damages,
technically the restaurant has no liability. But who really cares about all
the legalese mumbo-jumbo? What about good business relations? What
about good customer service and COMMON DECENCY? I mean, what is really
worth more to this restaurant - our $50 or knowing that I am maligning it’s
reputation to anyone who will listen?
Of course, I vent to all of you about this but do I say anything to the
manager? Of course not, because I truly do not like confrontation. I am
still so annoyed however, I may just call up that manager and give him a
piece of my mind tomorrow. Not that I can spare it these days...
Survivor
I said I would do a Survivor review so here it is, my little synopsis of some
of the cast and the show itself. I am not going to do a show-by-show
breakdown, that would take forever, nor am I going to go through the
entire cast in one entry. I will simply hit upon the people that affect me
during each week’s episode. Forewarning, if you are not a watcher of the
show, this part of my entry will bore you, so I apologize. However, after
reading what I have to write, you may just decide to start watching...
Cast
Let’s just start off with a bang - I cannot stand that absolute wench Jerri.
(If I were not writing for this site, a different word would have been inserted
here, and it does not start with a B). She is the type of individual that
deserves a mighty slap simply for being born. She is pure evil and needs
to be stopped. What she did to that poor guy Kel and the way she
brainwashed the other tribe members is simply deplorable. For those
of you who don’t watch the show, Jerri is a very pretty girl with a beautiful
“killer” body and the mind of a viper. She essentially helped convince the
rest of her tribe that this very decent guy “Kel” was hoarding beef jerky, of
all things, from the rest of the tribe and that he should be booted off the
show. She then plotted against him and encouraged the tribe to rifle through Kel’s personal things to see if he was indeed hiding food. Naturally, they found nothing. As it turns out, Kel was simply chewing on a blade of grass. I truly believe however, that the real reason that Jerri wanted Kel gone was 1) he was a threat because he was strong and able and smart, 2) he was good-looking and 3) he didn’t give her the time of day. Being a completely self-centered individual such as herself, she couldn’t stand being ignored and simply decided he was to be ousted. Just the sight of this Jerri creature pisses me off. What is so laughable about her is that she calls herself “an aspiring actress.” Ha! That is simply code for “unemployed.” I seriously hope she is the next one voted off. And I also hope that if she one day is lying in the road dying for a drink of water, that someone has the common decency to fill her mouth full of sand.
It amazes me how some people think they can boss people around and
then don’t understand why people hate them. This is exactly the case with
both “Debb” and “Keith.” Both of these people just love to tell everyone
else what to do and then have the nerve to get mad when someone else is
bossy to them. They are both such hypocrites it is sickening! I couldn’t
have been happier that Debb got voted off the show, she got exactly what
she deserves. And who was the makeup guru that (erroneously) advised her
that black eyeliner is acceptable? Keith professes to be a Chef but for
some odd reason can’t seem to cook rice. I guess the finer establishments
that he has worked in only serve potatoes as their starch.
Another one who I can’t stand the sight of is that total whiner “Jeff.”
He is always complaining or belly-aching about something. He is so wimpy
and whiney, he reminds me of a gnat that flies around your face on a hot
summer day trying fly into your nostril. All you want to do is squash him
between your two fingers and just shut him up. Every time he comes on
the screen I sense the onset of hives.
Maralyn I really thought I was going to like (she is that old lady with the
white hair), that is, until she screwed Kel over. The problem I have with
Maralyn is not the game-playing (telling Kel she would vote a certain
person off when she really planned to vote Kel off). That is the whole
idea of the game, apparently, cheating and deceiving the others to win.
The problem I have with Maralyn is that she failed to think for herself.
She liked Kel and she knew he was an honest and decent person, but yet
she allowed the others to convince her with no proof whatsoever, and
despite her own beliefs, that Kel should go because THEY believed he
was a dishonest tribe member. She lied down like the sheep and allowed
the slaughter. I cannot stand that type of personality - weak, mindless and
stupid. Maralyn - I hope you lose and get booted off the show and I also
hope that when you return to the states that Medicaid drops your coverage.
I will stop now because this is getting to be a little mean-spirited and I
really don’t intend to be that way. I feel the need to explain to you all
where I am coming from in my intense feelings for what is only a bunch
of ridiculous people on a TV show.
I am a VERY loyal person. Loyalty is everything to me. Once you
betray me, things can never go back to the way they were. And though
this is only a game and loyalty doesn’t apply here, it still bothers me to
watch people being intentionally hurtful and cruel for the sake of a million
dollars. I think the original intention of this game has been completely
obliterated, the original intention being that the strongest, the smartest
and the most able are the ones who survive and win. Now it seems that
the true intention of the game is to win through deceit and anger and pain.
I really, really hate that. Then why do I watch, you ask? I don’t know why, I
guess it’s sort of like looking at an accident on the highway, it’s a fascination
with what you find abominable, you just can’t help but watch. Maybe I am
waiting for the day where I see evidence of COMMON DECENCY and respect
from mankind. I know it exists SOMEWHERE out there, and when it one
day does surface, hopefully on this show, I would like to be there to witness
it.
Well, that is all for tonight. Next week I will include my movie review
of “The Gift” as well as any additions to my Survivor review. I would have
reviewed “The Gift” this week, but this entry is already way too long.
Please come see me on my boards, I love talking to you all.
Good luck this cycle, may we all be pg by March. Common decency
dictates that it should happen, don't you think?
Love always,
Corinne
