Corinn's Diary Entries

Diary Navigation:

August 19, 2002

Today was the official start to our preparations for TTC. I had my IUD removed which was much easier than the insertion. My OB/GYN DR. is the greatest, adorable, and so sweet. Right before he took out the IUD, I had a moment of panic at the reality of what I was about to do. With Avery, things were a major surprise and we were NOT expecting to get pg. This time things are so planned, and I know what I am getting myself into..at least I hope I do.
Last month we went to see a high risk OB/GYN DR to see what our chances were of having the BP problems and the preterm labor again. He was really nice and straightforward. He told me that I had a 25% chance of the preterm and that I would be a high risk pg with weekly appts beginning in the 3rd trimester, the Bp problems were less likely to be a problems at only 15%. So all in all I have a 40% chance of reoccurrence. This seems like a lot but I'm leaning towards the 60% probability of everything being fine. Why did I have the IUD removed this month? Well, my DR said he liked to see a 3 month turnover of cycles before TTC, so I am taking the BCP Allesse for the month of
Aug/Sept and then just using condoms for Oct. Then November we will officially stop using Birth Control.
I sometimes think I am nuts for wanting to conceive and move 6,000+miles while early in PG, but I'd rather already be getting over the first trimester symptoms when I start working again. I started the prenatal vitamins today too, yuck those things are worse than I remember! I also have been following weight watchers and have lost 11lbs this go around and 18lbs lost since last July. I am now within 7lbs of my goal weight. I feel so much healthier and more in control of my eating habit which were horrendous before and after I had Avery. I gained 27lbs right after I got married and I was just starting to lose when I got pg with Avery. During the PG I only gained 14lbs until the last two weeks when I packed on 20lbs from the pre-eclampsia. As soon as Avery was 6 weeks old I had lost all my baby weight but I couldn't get rid of the additional 27lbs(I admit I wasn't really trying either). Finally when I decided to TTC I told myself that I would get pg until I reached my goal. It actually has gotten easier to stick to my points. I am also trying to get back into shape although the gym is not an easy thing to get to, so Avery and I go for walks in the evenings together.
I am hoping to be in a much better physical and mental state so I can really enjoy being pg again. DH and I are very excited but nervous about having 2 children. Thanks for reading and until next week..
Take care, Corinn
