Jen & Jake's Diary Entries

Diary Navigation:

May 30, 1999

Hi, Everyone.

Well, a month into it, thus far, we have charted my ovulation and found (we assume) that I ovulated during May 12 to 16. Not doing this before or ever even taking notice, I hope I calculated right and noticed the appropriate signs. At first, I had wanted to wait until this summer to conceive, in hopes of a spring/May baby next year, but now, we are so excited that I don't mind starting a little early.

We made an appointment with our family doctor and OB -- she is wonderful. I am very much an over-planner, overly organized and detailed person. I went in there hoping for her to tell me exactly what we needed to do, when and where. She giggled at me as Jake rolled his eyes, knowing entirely too well, that he married a "List Maker." She calmly told us that I was in perfect health, although she ran a few blood tests to make sure my pituitary gland was working properly, which in turn allows you to ovulate. They came back fine. She gave us the thumbs up, told me, "No more caffeine," (Ahhhhh! I own an espresso shop), I agreed and left after she told me to call when we thought we were pregnant. Wow, it was that easy? I guess we didn't need her permission. :)

So after trying the entire week -- yes, needless to say, Jake is a happy camper -- I have been actually crossing off the days on the calendar in hopes that the end of the month would get here faster if I did. I assumed that after I went off the Pill, that I would go back to my regular 28-day cycle, which would have made me due for my period to start on the May 28th. I am now two days late, but am holding out, in fear that it may be off due to my body responding to the change of not being on the Pill any longer. I will wait another week and then if it still hasn't started, I will take a test. If I haven't had a nervous breakdown by then, I will certainly reply!

Until then,

Jen
