Christina H's Diary Entries

Diary Navigation:

December 22, 2000

Well, it was my birthday on Monday (the 18th). I can't believe I am 29 years old!! I really wanted to give birth by the time I turned 30, but that is pretty unrealistic. I guess it could happen, but I'd have to get PG sometime in the next three months!

Lots has happened since I last wrote. The biggest thing that happened is that my sweet, SWEET DH flew my mom out here from Hawaii as a surprise birthday present!!! He had been planning it for more than two months! Also, he planned a surprise birthday party for me and more than 40 people showed up. I was totally shocked! It was so much fun. I have been very, very spoiled this month. He even arranged with both of my bosses to have me on vacation this week! In fact, one of my bosses showed up to that surprise party. I had a blast!

Birthday presents were fun also ... DH bought me the Kitchenaid stand mixer that I have been wanting so badly (even though he gives me a hard time all the time by saying, "It's just an incredibly overpriced beater!"). My mom also got me a sewing machine and has been teaching me to do a lot of projects. I keep imagining sewing baby blankets and kids' Halloween costumes! Someday I hope!

Here are my current stats: TTC#1, C#3, CD#7. My last cycle was actually 44 days long!! It was getting so frustrating. I have only recently been keeping track of my cycles and I can't believe how long it is. I even took two PG tests just to be sure. I was pretty sure that I wasn't because I was having NO symptoms but I just wanted to be sure. I was actually RELIEVED when AF finally showed up! It's kinda nice to know that I have a whole new cycle to start with.

Having mom here has been fun. She makes little comments about how she is "waiting" for a grandchild. It's cute. I'm not offended by it at all. She doesn't do it in a harassing way at all. Last year, she hand-made our Christmas stockings. I love them. She casually mentioned the fact that she has two more at home that just need names on them. That actually made me all giddy inside. I can't wait to make her a grandma! It's been so neat having her here for the holidays. She will be here until the 28th and then she flies home.

DH and I have been talking about money a lot lately. We are realizing how expensive it is to have children. We are also realizing that it is very important to us that I am not working outside the home full time. I am currently working a second job from home. I proofread medical transcription reports, which isn't too hard for me since I'm a RN. The money is pretty good for sitting at home. We are using that money to pay off our bills (and believe me, there are a LOT). We are hoping that by the time we do have a baby, I will be able to stay home and work this home job full time. We'll see. Things change.

Well, I guess that's it for now. Christmas is just three days away. I'm just like a little kid ... I can't wait to open up the gifts! I am actually working 12-hour shifts on Saturday and Sunday so the weekend is really going to fly by. We'll visit with family on Monday and then on Tuesday we are driving up to Vancouver, B.C. to see the sites, show my mom around Canada a little bit, and shop with the exchange rate in our favor!! I should have lots to tell by next week! Hope everyone has a very merry Christmas and really enjoys the holiday season. I'll be wishing lots of baby dust on all of you!!
