It’s been a LONG week. This was my first full week back to work after being sick for a couple of weeks. It was hard to get back into the routine of things. My alarm rings at 4:45am EVERY morning except for two Saturdays and two Sundays a month. After awhile, I just plain feel tired. It’s crazy working two jobs but it’s for the greater good.
Speaking of jobs, I’m thinking about switching jobs! I never thought I’d hear myself say that out loud. I REALLY like the hospital that I am working at now. It’s a great place to work and I have AWESOME managers. But, I discovered that if I go and do nursing for a local agency here, the very MINIMUM that my yearly income would increase by is $21,000. That is above and beyond what I already earn as a nurse. Basically, by working for this company, my hourly rate would increase by $2/hr AND they would give me a housing stipend every month that would MORE than pay my mortgage payment. The downside is that I would have to work at different hospitals, but that is okay. I can deal with that. As it stands now, one round trip to and from my hospital is 52 miles. I wouldn’t mind working closer to home. Anyway, as soon as I am done with this entry for the day, I will be calling this company. One nice thing about a crisis-level national nursing shortage: JOB SECURITY! I work with a number of nurses who work for this company and not one of them has anything but positive things to say!
Well, here are this week’s stats as of today: TTC#1, C#3, CD#38. I’m hoping that AF will show up in the next week. I discovered Lifecycle this week and REALLY like it. It’s so nice to have all my info nicely organized on the computer. Since my doctor's office is 25 miles away, it will be nice to have my nurse practitioner be able to look up my charts on the net instead of me having to fax them to her! I started temping mid cycle so I have NO accurate information as of yet. I am excited to be able to start a new cycle and see how my chart looks. I had seen Lifecycle before but never really wanted to pay the money for it. Call me cheap but it’s true! Now, they are offering it free! They are apparently in the process of working with TCOYF to do a newer program that I am sure will not be free of charge. I still don’t even OWN TCOYF. Again, I’m cheap and don’t want to fork over the money for it. If I get desperate, I will, but until then I’ll stick to the info that I already have.
On a family note… my father-in-law is in the hospital. He had to have an angiogram done because of an abnormal stress test and EKG. Well, it showed that he has a couple of arteries in his heart that are blocked. He is at a hospital near where I live but will actually be transferring today to the hospital that I work at! In fact, he will be a patient on the very unit that I work on! He is transferring there to have a procedure done to clear those blockages. It’s a procedure that we do every single day and to be quite honest, I am not worried at all. It’s weird but I haven’t had a single moment of worry about any of this. Anyway, the strangest part of things is that he will be on the same unit that I work on. I am off the next couple of days and chances are good that he will actually be gone by the time I get back to work, but who knows.
On Friday night, we went to dinner with another couple. She is the one who just found out she is pregnant a few weeks ago. It was SO much fun to be with her. She had an appointment last week and got to hear her baby’s heartbeat for the very first time. It was fun to share in her excitement and reminded me of how much I am looking forward to that day as well! She had some issues that made her think that getting pregnant was going to take a long time. She was really blessed to be able to have this happen in a short amount of time. I am hoping the same will happen for me!
Well, I guess that is about it for this entry. It’s amazing to me that this month has flown by so quickly. It seems like Thanksgiving was yesterday! My Talk To Me board is finally up and running if anyone wants to stop by and say "hi". I’m grateful for the messages I’ve received thus far! Here’s wishing a ton of baby dust on everyone!!
