Catherine's Diary Entries

November 19, 2003

Well, AF decided to show up today. I had a short LP this month (only 10 days, or is it 9 days since AF started today?) but frankly, I think I've hit the point of past caring. I think I'm a bit moody and pms-ing. I'm having a hard time convincing myself that we will ever have kids. Yes, I know it's irrational of me but it seems like everyone around me is pg, and the ladies that I do find to talk to about this at church or whatever, end up pg the next time I talk to them! What is wrong with me?!

Jeff started his new job this week and called me yesterday asking if we could move closer. He left the house at 6 am and didn't get to work until 8:30 am. The poor guy is tired already so we're looking into moving either into Maryland or farther north in Virginia to be in between his job and mine. This move probably won't happen until the summer but until then, we're looking at prices, loan amounts and figuring out if we can afford this. And afford RE appointments, and maybe a new car. Ugh, sometimes I think we should all be rich and we can focus on other things in life! But I guess the rich aren't always happy either. It would be nice though. What would you rather be: Rich, beautiful or talented? At this point I think I'd rather be rich because then I could have the horse farm I've always wanted, plenty of time to read my books and enough money to go through infertility treatments without worrying about paying rent on time or fixing the car.

Thanks to all those who have posted on my ttm board. It's been really fun to get to know all of you and I look forward to hearing from all of you again! :) (Stacey, Amy and Tine, this means you too! :) )

We had the missionaries over for dinner last week and that was fun. We had fettuccine with peas and ham and cheesecake for desert. We had our friend Cindy over as well. It was our first people over for dinner in Virginia and I got to use my new Polar Bear china. The missionaries are so funny because they like to talk about home, but a lot of their conversations are laced with church lingo. You can tell they talk about church stuff all day every day. It was great to have them over and get to know them better. I’ve never been in a ward where they have specific missionaries before so it’s fun.

I started doing my callings (jobs) at church about 2 weeks ago. Last night I went to enrichment meeting (for all the women in the ward 18 and over, we learned how to make omelets, cards, and massage techniques. It was fun but the best part of the evening was a little boy who I teach singing to was in the nursery and he jumped up and said he was thinking about me all week and was singing the songs I taught him. It was very cute and really touched my heart.

Work has been really stressful because everyone in the business office seems so unhappy with their jobs. I get a lot of attitude from them, and they call my department stupid to the patients a lot. Not very professional and if they all quit and we had to get knew people, I wouldn't be sad. I think they're mad at us because we aren't put in the weekend rotation to work at the front desk because if you work a weekend, you get a day off in the middle of the week. We are already short staffed and can't afford to have one person missing in the middle of the week. So we are saved from weekends, and holidays, but they resent us for that I think. If my work starts making us work weekends, I will quit. But hopefully it won't come to that.

This weekend we also got a personal digital recorder from Comcast. This thing is SO much fun. If we need to pause TV for a phone call, we can! Or if we want to watch a show but we're too tired to stay up and watch it right then, we can record it and watch it later. Or I can record something and watch it later when I can skip the commercials, which is fun too. Anyway, if anyone is thinking of getting one of these (from whoever) I highly recommend them.

Congrats to all the new mommies on our board! I look forward to reading your pg diaries and I also look forward to seeing new faces on this board!

Still no snow here for us, which I find unfortunate. Everyone else seems to be pretty happy that we haven't gotten any of the white stuff yet, but I'm really looking forward to it. Okay, I'm not looking forward to driving in it with everyone else who didn't grow up driving in it but I look forward to seeing it.

Until next week!
