Catherine's Diary Entries

Diary Navigation:

October 8, 2003

I swear, traffic here is SO bad. I think it's dumb that the section on I-95 that I drive down has an HOV-3 instead of an HOV-2. I see so many people with 2 people in their cars, stuck in traffic with me while the HOV-3 lane is completely open! It would make my drive easier if they would just change that! Who's with me? :)

This is my “complain about cars” entry. So if you're tired of hearing people complain about stuff...just skip the end of this entry.

On the ttc front, FF actually gave me an O date on the day I had planned to O. Amazing, isn't it? It said I had a fallback rise, which is why it took them till 5 dpo to let me know. This is not my first fallback rise, and frankly with my 7 or 8 previous cycles with fall back rises, this is common for me. No wonder those stupid OPKs and I don't get along. I did get a + on that this month too though so I'm feeling pretty hopeful! I'm 9dpo today and not feeling anything. I did have a slight dip in my temp 2 days ago, along with cramping that day too. So it's hopeful but I always seem to find a reason to be hopeful each cycle. I'm just trying hard to be positive! AF is due on Saturday, and I plan on testing on the 13th, which is Monday if AF doesn't show. Wish me luck and I'll be sure to post with more details later.

Okay, back to the cars. Let's start with the DMV. Who hates the DMV?? I welcome your horror stories about it because it makes me feel better that I had a crappy time there. We had to go back twice because we didn't have the proper identification!!! I think it might be different in other states, but here you have to have your old driver's license, another form of ID, birth certificate, marriage license (not certificate as I found out), passport, etc. Also, you have to have a letter address to you and only you (no joint letters like Mr. and Mrs. Catherine or whatever) to prove address, and a copy of renter's lease or whatever, or a bunch of other things. The thing is that they have a line to talk to the receptionists BEFORE you get into the other line, and they have to okay your information. BOTH times they okayed it before we got in the line and BOTH times as I got to the front of the line, things were rejected. Can we at least get on the same page in the same office, don't you think? Anyway, after waiting over 2 hours the first time only be to turned down, I had to wait another 2 hours the second time, only to be checked by the supervisor because what I had was not right. Let's just say I threw a little fit and pointed out their discrepancies and they finally allowed us to get our new licenses. How dumb is that??? I hate the DMV.

And now to the traffic. It took me almost 2 hours to get home on Friday. 2 hours!! It normally takes me about 45 minutes. I was SO bored just stuck on the freeway. I ended up talking to my brother for about an hour while I sat in traffic. I swear I only went one mile the whole time I was on the phone with him. And again, the HOV lane was wide open! Arg...frustrates me. I hate rush hour traffic. But it was nice to talk to my brother. I do miss him.

This past weekend was the General Conference of my church. They do this the first weekend in October and April, every year. They have 5 sessions, each 2 hours long split up into 2 days. It was wonderful. Surprisingly enough (to me anyway) Jeff and I were able to watch it on TV. I'm used to having it on TV in Utah because that's where it's broadcast. But it was a pleasant surprise to be able to watch it here. Thanks to the cable company for that!

My new job is working out really good. I really enjoy coming to work (a plus!) and I'm learning a lot. I could learn some more, of course. I've only been here a week so I still have some information to learn. But it's fun! It's also really interesting. I did find out the other day that they would take off 30 percent of my costs of treatment when I've worked here for a year. Now, a year is a long time and I hope that I get pg before then. But still, it's nice to know. I will probably go to a regular OB/GYN in December to run blood tests through there. Besides, it's time for my annual pap smear anyway. So hopefully I'll know what's going on through the blood work and I can know what my next step is. I am so excited for that! :)

Oh! Jeff might have a job!! Yay!! The company finally called him back, and he has a real interview with them on Monday morning. I am so excited for him! It would be awesome for him to get this job. I wonder that his job comes so soon after mine...like God was waiting to put me in the right place before he put Jeff where he needed to go. I sure hope he gets this job. It would be perfect for him. So I ask you all for lots of prayers and good thoughts about this job. He really needs it. He has been a sweetie this past week and done a lot of housework for me. I love him so much! He's such a great guy.

This week is customer service week and we’ve had breakfast once and today we got cute little smiley face paper holders, cups, a stress ball, a few suckers, and 101 reasons to smile. The first one is a sunrise and the last one is witnessing an act of kindness.

I have found this great pen at work that has a little snowman on top that lights up red when you push down on it. I love this pen! :) Just a happy thought for you readers out there. You can imagine me with this little clear pen, pushing it over and over…flashing red…

Anyway, it's taken me almost all day to do this entry. Take care!!
