October 3, 2003
Can you believe it's already October? I just can't believe how fast this year has gone by. It seems only yesterday it was spring and summer just went by so fast. The weather has cooled down considerably here in the DC area (read: down right cold!). It went from being in the 80's in the day to being in the 50's. All the leaves are starting to change so that's good. I'm hoping maybe next weekend Jeff and I can take a drive to see them. If you can't tell I am excited about that! I've always heard of the magnificent color that we get out here and by golly, I want to see it! :)
Life has been hectic lately and I have been so tired. I got a job! I am the communications rep for an infertility clinic here in the DC area. Basically what I do is when people call and want to get an appointment or talk to anyone else, I answer it. Basically me and 4 other girls answer the phones and put them through to the appropriate person or place. It's a good job but I got it right in the middle of the week and going from getting up at 10:30 or 11 in the morning to getting up at 5 to beat rush hour traffic has definitely screwed up my sleeping habits. On Monday night, I could not get to sleep until about 3 am...and then up at 5 for my first day on the job. I was beat, and kept yawning all day. I felt bad but I seriously couldn't sleep! I even sat on the couch and watched tv for about an hour trying to get myself tired enough to even doze. Oh well, I got over that and now I'm so tired at night I can barely keep my eyes open past 9pm. I am SO looking forward to sleeping in at least a little bit this weekend. Even sleeping till 7am would be great. As long as the sun has been up before me, I'll be happy.
I'll get more into my job later but I wanted to talk about my cycle this time. Screwing up my wake up time has really messed with my chart. I think I may have O’ed just 2 days ago, which will be good. Although it's a little late for me, but any type of O is good, right? I'm trying to stay really positive for me and for all my friends out there. Namely Shari because we have been through this together from the beginning. I think iParenting is a wonderful site to bring many people in different situations together. I don't know what I'd do without some of my friends I've met here.
So anyway, I got off the subject. I'm back to taking all my herbs and I've been doing a pretty good job of that. My cm is all off this cycle, either from being sick or whatever but I can barely tell what it is. So we'll just wait and see in 2 weeks!
My new job is great. I'm really learning to like it the more I understand about it. It was horrible the first 2 days because I couldn't get anything straight in my head and my supervisor wasn't as patient with me as I thought she should have been. I mean, she was patient, but every time I'd ask her the same question just to get it straight in my head, she'd say it in a more condescending way. Besides, she complained to me about other people in the company making her job harder than it's supposed to be, and I don't even know these people! I kept thinking to myself that if she just shut up and trained me she could get on with all these important problems of hers. She is gone today and I have learned more from the other girls today than I have in 3 whole days training with my supervisor. Is that sad? I think what they should do is designate a trainer as another person so the supervisor can still perform her duties.
But all in all, I've come to enjoy the job. They have health insurance, with infertility coverage! Yay!! *burst of confetti* I intend to use it when it kicks in Dec. 1st. They even do the daily monitoring here in this building so if I were to do that, I could just schedule that before my shift. It just seems to have worked out so perfectly for me to get this job here. I must admit, I wasn't too happy about getting the job. I wanted to stay home some more! But since it looks like Jeff won't get a job anytime soon, I guess I better do my part. Right?
Yes, Jeff is STILL looking for a job. The company that was so interested in him at the job fair has yet to call him back. (One month later.) Don't you think that companies should at least give you a place to call and check on your resume? It could even be automated but still. It would be nice to know. Poor Jeff is anxious to get a job so he can "provide for his family." Great. I'm glad he's so interested in working and is actively looking for a job because he does like video games a lot and I used to worry when we first got married that video games would be all he wanted to do. Thank goodness he feels the need to provide!
Speaking of his video games, there was tragedy with them the other day. He plays Diablo 2 (anyone else's husband addicted to this game?) and he was trying to get it to play off of my little laptop so we could play together. Yes, I sometimes play with him but I figure it's important to him and he really wants to share it with me so I'll play. Anyway, it ended up not working so he just erased it. But he erased the wrong one! So all of his saved games and items were all gone just like that. Oh well. He wasn't too upset, which is good.
Another thing with Jeff is that he has discovered that his state has a football team! A pro football team! Utah doesn't have that so now he likes to watch every Redskins game on Sunday. I'm still a fan of the Broncos but I'll watch a little bit with him.
We rented Holes this past weekend and it was really good! I was surprised. Sigourney Weaver was really good as the warden. I was just surprised to see how good this movie was, since by the commercials it didn't look great. I'm looking to borrow the book from our local library to compare. Most of the time if it's a good movie, it's an excellent book! I'll let you know.
I have just finished a serious of fantasy books called the Rhapsody series and I highly recommend them to anyone interested. I really enjoyed reading about the main character and how she was able to make one little off hand remark and change the course of her whole life. A very good book and I was sad to see the series end, although I hear there’s a fifth book coming out in February.
Well, I didn’t realize this was going to be so long! Everyone have a great weekend and I hope to write again soon!
--Always, Cat
