Hello everyone! Another week has gone by so fast! I just can’t believe we’ve been here almost two weeks now. No, we don’t have jobs yet but Jeff has been to a couple of his classes and bought all of his books so he’s all set for school. I must admit, I really don’t feel like going back to work. I would like to be a stay at home mom when we actually do get pg. I wish I could just wait around for that to happen and NOT work but I just can’t see me hanging around at home while Jeff goes to school and works. I want to help out a little while I can. But until I do get a job, I’ve been enjoying my days off!
What do I do with all this free time you ask? Well, mostly I have been looking for jobs. Hopefully that will pay off shortly. We’ve also been getting a bank set up here, finishing up our unpacking, and just relaxing. I’m a big scrap booker so I’ve had some free time to do that. I also really like to read and have been doing a lot of that. We got a few books from Mt. Vernon when we went and I’ve enjoyed learning more about that place. Also, I’ve been reading this book called Rhapsody by Elizabeth Haydon. This is a fascinating book! It’s a fantasy book but I’ve quite enjoyed it. I recommend it to anyone looking for something to read.
Last night, Jeff invited me to campus to have dinner and show me around. I thought it was really sweet of him! I had a really good time looking around campus and getting the feel for things. GW is a very urban campus and that’s something I’m not used to at all. BYU is very closed off. It has the feeling that you’re in a bubble as you go there. But here, things are very open. A nice change! Since BYU is run by my church and we don’t drink, smoke, or drink coffee, it’s interesting to see all the kids sitting outside their dorms on campus smoking. I also thought the signs above all the water fountains about not pouring your coffee grounds in there very interesting. New things I’m not really used to. Boy, that pegs me as a Utah Mormon, doesn’t it? Ah, well. I suppose that’s what I am. In any case, I really enjoyed my time on campus and it actually made me miss school a little bit. I know that I’m so happy to be out of it, but I did miss reading interesting books and having discussions on them. As we were walking around campus last night, I missed being part of a school crowd. Don’t ask me why. Anyone else fresh out of school miss it?
I’ve been feeling kind of down a lot lately. I suppose it’s because everyone I know that was pg with me before I miscarried have all had their babies and I miss mine. I’m still on my little break this month but I just can’t help wondering if I really am pg. I don’t really have any of the signs but I still wonder. It’s hard to stop thinking about ttc. A week from Saturday is my birthday so I thought I’d wait until then to test. I don’t know that I’ll even have to wait that long but I feel like getting pg again will really help with the hurt of loosing a baby. I know I wasn’t pg for very long, but it was wonderful while it lasted.
I have been noticing that night here is very loud. There are a lot of bugs here! So much more life it seems like. I have enjoyed the green and lushness of it all. I still wonder at it every time I go outside. I really can’t wait for fall. I’m sure the colors will be amazing!
Our ward (church congregation) here is fabulous. I really enjoy going to church every week and look forward to it every Sunday. One thing that I love about our church is how much the same it feels anywhere we go. I feel right at home in this ward. In our church, we ask people to teach Sunday School, and teach the kids, etc. All the jobs in our church are on a voluntary basis and we are asked or “called” to do them through our bishop, who is the leader of the ward. His job is also voluntary and no one receives any money for their services. One calling that everyone has is to be a Home Teacher if you’re a man and a Visiting Teacher if you’re a woman. This means that you have a few families in the ward that you are asked to visit once a month outside of church. You have a partner of your same sex and the men visit the whole family and the women just visit the women. It’s a great way for everyone in the ward to get to know each other and help each other out. Well, I already have my Visiting Teachers and ladies to visit. This ward is so on top of things! I can’t wait to meet the ladies I’m going to visit. I hope we become good friends.
Other than that, not much has been going on. I have been making good use of our apartment’s exercise facilities. I’ve been working out 3 days a week for half an hour or so. Hopefully I’ll get myself back into shape! When we actually do have jobs and have enough money, I’d like to start up my horseback riding lessons again. I’d love to be in great shape for that so I can really focus on improving my riding, not toning my body. So far it’s been great!
Oh, one quick question for all of you DC metro area people out there. What does HOV-3 mean? I understand HOV-2, but does the 3 mean that you have to have 3 people in the car, not just 2? Also, I’d love to hear from some of my readers. Does anyone have any great books to recommend or any moving stories? I’d love to hear how you coped with moving!
