Hopefully I can make my eyes stay open for the rest of the day. Jeff started class last night. And I'm tired. Poor Jeff is tired too, but he got to sleep in this morning. Ugh. I'm sorry if this is disjointed but seriously, I'm tired. Apparently they tore a building down on campus so they are doubling up on classrooms to fit everyone in. And so they pushed all their evening classes back an hour. So that means that instead of Jeff going to class from 6-9, he goes from 7-10 and doesn't get home until 11pm. Icky. Since Jeff and I have one car, and the buses don't run after 11:15pm, if he doesn't make the bus I have to go get him. I did this last night and I'm so tired this morning. I have to get up at 5 to make it to work on time. All I can say is that this is a darn good thing it's only 3 nights a week or I'd be a walking zombie. Oh wait...did I just turn into one of those this morning? :)
I have news about the IUI cycle. I got the numbers back from Jeff's wash and prep of the sperm. Again, everything is on the low side of normal. The thing that bothers me is that there was "heavy agglutination." They told me this and I kept thinking to myself "Ag-glue what?" It obviously can't be good because they never mention stuff like this if it doesn't matter. So I spent a lot of time yesterday looking up agglutination on the web and seeing what I came up with. Apparently, this is a term for when the sperm stick together like glue. They clump. So, since they're clumped up, one can't get through to the egg because it's stuck with its buddies. There's a good news and bad news to this though. Good news: Men who have this condition who take 1,000 mgs of Vitamin C every day seem to have less agglutination than men who don't. Bad news: A lot of the time this does not help enough and you have to do ICSI (intracytoplasmic sperm injection, where they actually take one sperm and manually insert it into the egg). This way they make sure they have one sperm meeting the egg. I suppose the good thing if we have to do ICSI (pronounced ick-see) is that my clinic was the first US clinic to have pregnancies achieved with this technique. And my brother-in-law had to do this to have their baby boy. So I know it works. It just looks like we're going to have to go the route of IVF to have a child. Somewhere deep down I thought we'd have to come to this. And strangely, I’m becoming okay with it. I’m still a little scared from it, but I know I’ll survive.
In any case, I'm 9 dpo today. And if my lp is evening out at all, I expect AF either on Labor day or the 8th. I plan on waiting till the 10th to test but I don't think I'll get that far. And this will be the end of our fertility treatments this year. We'll talk to Dr. K on the 15th and see what he suggests and go from there.
I’m going to go walk around my office in an attempt to wake myself up. We’re going camping with the puppy this weekend and I pray that she won’t keep us up all night long! Everyone enjoy your Labor Day if you have the day off!
