May 23, 2001
Well it's been a few days and I am back in the rat race at work. It is so funny because by Friday of vacation I was SO ready to come back home but now I am ready to go back to Mexico or heck any vacation.
I promised Madison & Ace (my doggy kiddo's) that we would never ever board them again. I about lost it Sunday when we picked them up at the vet's office. Madison was so excited to see me that she jumped up on me and clawed my neck. I have 3 nice scratch marks down the front of my neck. My vacation was the hot-spot when all my co-workers saw the scratches if you get my drift. Ace was happy to go home too! I was floored when they brought him out. Ace had lost over 10lbs in the week that we were gone. The dogs were seperated because had a spell of diarrhea and that is a big NO-NO!
He was stressed out all week from seperation anxiety and from the thunderstorms that hit the area. The boarding area has a tin room so between the thunder and rain he was terrified. If you haven't already noticed Madison & Ace are very spoiled!
Now to the good part...vacation!
We got to our resort about 8:30 that night, right at sunset. It was really romantic because our room was really close to the beach and we walked along the beach holding hands (mushy mushy!)
Sunday we got up bright and early...6 am!
We went to breakfast and hit the beach by 9.
We pretty much just swam, kayaked and tried our hand at a few other water sports. We went to the show after supper and turned in for the night.
Monday we woke up to pouring rain! Yuck! So we decided to take a chance and go to Cozumel. We caught the ferry boat in Playa Del Carmen and in that short time we were on a nice sunny beach! We shopped in Cozumel and I even got my hair braided! I have always wanted to do that but never again. I lost so much hair. My hair was falling out at the roots because it was pulled and braided so tight.
Tuesday we hung around the resort all day also. I had so much fun just doing nothing. I read "The Wedding" by Danielle Steel while laying out on the beach. The book was pretty good. I always like a love story. I originally bought Bridget's Jones' Diary on vacation but I couldn't resist and had it read two weeks before vacation.
On to Wednesday! We pretty much puttered around all day on a sailing kayak. Then in the evening we went to Cancun to the Captain Hook Pirate Ship for a Lobster dinner cruise. We had a ball! We were seated in the front row which was a blast! We danced with the crew and had a great time.
Thursday we went to Tulum and Xel-Ha. In Tulum we visited the ancient Mayian Ruins. I barely made it through the tour because the heat exhaustion had hit me and dh by then. I sat in the shade most of the morning then we were off the Xel-Ha for the afternoon. Xel-Ha is the worlds largest natural aquarium. I was so awesome but I was so sick by then! I pretty much hung out on "hammock island" all afternoon!
Friday was a "stay out of the sun day." Dh had a very bad case of sun poisoning with a rash and hives everywhere. We pretty much stayed inside until it cooled down and then went golfing. Dh golfed 9 holes while I drove the cart. I could not believe how expensive golfing was. Dh paid $130. for 9 holes and that included golf clubs. We had a great time! I loved watching him!
We had such a great time...except for the minor illness.
Sorry this entry was so long! Just wanted to share my vacation with you guys!
Hugs,
Carmajo
