I have finally done it! A year later that I originally intended, but I have finally got my second (and last!) chicken pox shot! I also got my third (and last!) Hepatitis B vaccine. So now, it’s just one month of waiting until I can “legally” start ttc. In actuality it will be later than that that were actively start, but in one short month, there will be nothing standing in my way!
Okay, maybe not nothing. I still need to call to get some prescription prenatal vitamins. This is has got to be the biggest scam perpetrated on women pregnant and ttc. The *only* difference between over-the-counter prenatals and prescription is how much folic acid is in them. I used to pay over $20 for a one month supply of those things. My insurance wouldn’t cover them. Just ridiculous. The one vitamin you need the most of, and they won’t put it in the kind you can get for $5 for 2 months. (You get half the folic acid recommended in OTCs.) Now, I suppose you can get extra folic acid pills, and take those along with the other ones, but how much of a pain is that? It’s just stupid. Anyway, that’s my rant for the week, along with something else.
How many of you knew there exist chewable prenatal vitamins? I didn’t; that’s for sure. My friend gave me a bottle of hers, and while I wouldn’t go out of my way to call them delicious, they are pretty good. I have tried about 3 different kinds of prenatals, and these are, by far, the easiest to stomach. I am going to ask for them when I need a prescription. They’re called Natachew (I think) and they’re grape flavored. She said there is also another kind that is orange flavored, and they are new. She works as a pharmacy technician, so she knows a bunch of this stuff. I wish I’d had those things for my first pregnancy, it would have made retching less likely. I was on Natafort, and I swear, the only two times I threw up, it was because of those damn pills. I was told to take them on an empty stomach (yeah right). I just hated the aftertaste from them. They are the kind all of the doctors recommend, too. I am sure there is some sort of kick-back they get for recommending such a gruesome vitamin. I practically had to twist my OB’s arm to get him to prescribe me something else, which was much better. But, enough about vitamins!
My temps are weird again. I guess I don’t know enough about the whole thing (charting, temping) because I have another question! My temps aren’t going down. Does this mean I am not going to ovulate? I noticed the software just drew another coverline, with higher temps. Hmm. I’m confused. I will learn I guess.
Well, I have to get ready for class today, so I need to get going. I am looking forward to Thanksgiving, I get a weeks vacation. We will be going up to see my family, plus it means Al won’t have to cook the elaborate meal that I demand from him. Hopefully, it will go okay. I am not looking forward to being in my parents house (it ought to be condemned), but I’ll cope.
Until next week,
Candace
