Candace W's Diary Entries

Diary Navigation:

October 16, 2000

Hello everyone! I have been keeping busy, getting some important things done, as well as some not-so-important things. On Tuesday, I got my haircut. Susie took off about 7 inches. Al says it looks the best it has ever looked since he's known me. I don't know if I agree. I think Susie made it look wonderful, but I tried blow-drying it for pictures at JCPenney's on Saturday, and it totally frizzed out. I never learned all those feminine things like styling hair.

I thought it would be nice to have some mother-daughter pictures. Ugh. Alexandria was in such a foul mood, it was astonishing. The woman tried everything to get her to smile, to no avail. I was quite embarrassed, and the pictures turned out lousy. Maybe next time they will turn out better. Friday I went to the university's health center to get my prenatal prescription, but I wound up having to make an appointment to see an LPN. So, I did that today. I got my prenatals, and some cream for some cervical irritation that I have, possibly left over from the birth. I noticed my CM wasn't looking right (color was off) so that's why I mentioned it to them. At least it wasn't an infection; she did the lab work right there (i.e. looking under a microscope really quickly) and said it looked OK. When they had me lie down for the exam (and the stirrups, and the speculum) on the ceiling they had a collage of attractive men cut out to entertain me while they swabbed away. I thought it was a pretty good idea; it made me laugh out loud. I imagine since this is a university, you can't expect to see the same thing soon at your OB/GYN or midwifery clinic. Too bad.

I have an exam in organic chemistry on Wednesday. I am not looking forward to this. I have to so some heavy-duty studying between now and then, and I dread it already. I can't help but wait till the last minute to study, and the last exam, I was too exhausted to even bother reading the textbook. And Al (finally!) said something this past week that excited me! He mentioned (without me bugging him), "I suppose it would be nice if Alexandria had a sibling." This is the first time he has done this! He knows we're going to be TTC (of course!), but in little ways he tries to convince me that more children this soon would be horrible. He wanted to wait till she's at least 3! No way.

Well, I really should go study. Till next week.
