Candace W's Diary Entries

Diary Navigation:

June 11, 2001

Two entries in a row, this might be some sort of record for me! Last week Alexandria and I were supposed to get our chicken pox shots, but that fell through. I thought about it that morning in the shower (and how I’d have to ask for directions) and then, by the time I got home, I forgot all about it. As in, I was so tired, trying to play with Alexandria, and by the time I remembered, it was too late. I was very unhappy.

So, the following day I went to one of these “immediate health care” places that are so popular around here, and they politely informed me that I couldn’t be seen, because the doctor wasn’t in, and could I come back at 5:00? (This was 3:15.) This is the typical bullshit you see in Cape Girardeau. There is a surplus of poor doctors here that are arrogant and incompetent. You go into a waiting room, and you can wait up to three hours, and never less than one hour, and I am not joking. At Al’s work, if you drive up to St. Louis to see a doctor, 90% of the cost is covered, but if you see one here, only 80% is covered. I have never seen such lousy care in my life. The doctors here are just vultures. And we won’t even get into the time I observed some operations at the local hospital. The things the doctors said about the patients while they were being operated on were unflattering to say the least.

Anyway, back to the shots… I suppose I could have said that I didn’t need a doctor, but I was just so furious that I forgot. So, I will try Med Crock One once again, this Thursday. Maybe it will work out, but this is Cape.

I now have a mathematics minor (woo hoo!) and I have one more class take before I have my degree. I did get a C in Linear Algebra, but so did the majority of the class. There were 4 A’s, 1 B, and about 7 C’s. I don’t know yet how I did in my other class, but I know I passed it.

My next class starts tomorrow, which is Biochemistry. It should be interesting. I hate getting up at 6:00, but it’s just something that I will have to endure (again) for the next 6 weeks.

Well, that wraps it up for this week. I wish everyone good luck this week, we need to see more + signs!
