Candace W's Diary Entries

Diary Navigation:

April 14, 2002

This is the entry I’ve been wanting to write for over a year. I’ve been waiting so long to finally say these words! I am pregnant! I wrote my last entry on Thursday. That night I bought two more pregnancy tests, Clear Blue Easy (or whatever they’re called). On Friday morning, I took one. A faint line showed. Certainly it was darker than FRER ones I took. This was a good thing! After doing some research on the internet, I realized I could obtain a free PG from the university, which I (of course) did. I couldn’t wait, so I took the test in the middle of the day, Friday afternoon. This line was dark enough that I knew it wasn’t a figment of my imagination. So, I planned out how I was going to surprise Al with the good news. I first told him that I wasn’t expecting my period until Sunday, a blatant lie, of course. And that I was going to take a PG test then. I have a Saturday morning class, so I decided to send him flowers right after I got out of class.

So, I took another PG test this morning (the makers of these things must make a mint off of obsessed women), and the line was bigger and just a little darker. Of course, when I looked at it later, it was totally gone! Arrgggh! Anyway, I went off to school, obtained another one of those free PG tests from the university (I can’t believe that those worked the best for me!) and then sat through my class. Afterwards, I went to the florist. I bought a vase, 4 roses (two pink and two white), a purple iris, and (I ripped this off from Crystal, thanks!) blue and pink babie’s breath. I wrote a small note to Al, it was a little card that had a baby theme one (a teddy bear and a bunch of toys on the floor that said, “Congratulations!” I wrote on the card, “You’re going to be a daddy again! 12/22/02 Love, Candace”. So, the 22nd is my due date. Some websites say the 21st, but one day doesn’t matter.

So, they finally delivered the flowers. Al didn’t even admire them (boo hoo!), he just ripped open the card, and started crying. He was so happy! He was really concerned he told me later, that he would be unable to father more children. He was hugging me, and trying to get Alexandria to understand what was going on (she’s a wee bit young for that!). He kept asking me, “Are you sure you’re pregnant?” I told him I have that free PG test that I will take with him Sunday morning (which also turned out positive), to show him. I also have the old ones, and I showed him those. I don’t think it’s sunk in for him yet. He still can’t believe it.

I am going to write one more entry after this, and then I will move to the PG diaries. I am scared something might happen, but I am not going to let it affect this pregnancy. I am going to enjoy it from the get-go (another rip-off from Crystal!) and not worry about “What if…?”. There’s nothing I can do about it anyway, so I may as well have fun!

Also, my temp jumped up to 98.6 this morning. This, coupled with the positive test this morning, makes me feel a little better. I have been having AF-like cramps, and I am pretty early (something like almost 4 weeks, yikes!), so I'm still concerned, but I try not to think about it.

Thanks so much for all the responses on my board. I wish the same soon for all of you ladies, diary writers and readers alike.
