Soliciting all ideas for original baby shower favors, games, cakes, menu items. I am so happy to be planning my sister's baby shower. Now if this is difficult for any to read I would suggest just using your back button. Usually so hard to get excited about someone elses baby when you are TTC. But I think my sis has a special reason to celebrate b/c she too was TTC for awhile. Sis is due in November and I will be giving her a shower next month. Sunday brunch. I held a baby shower once for my best friend but that was 20 years ago when, at hem, she got pregnant in her senior year. So now I get to do a real shower for my little sis. Now under other circumstances this may be a sticky situation b/c of my TTC problemas but actually my sis had her share too. She was trying for 1 year when I suggested that she may want to see a specialist b/c after one year of not being able to conceive on her own...long story short, they got the full workup and when they were told "all systems check out just fine" by their MD...they got pregnant on their own (I will have to ask if she had the HSG...where the blow ink or air into the private female parts. Oh yeah sorry for the immature translation but I work with kids and I call the female parts, 'the privates'). She also has a complicated miscarriage and had to wait for awhile to TTC. This pregnancy seems so much sweeter knowing that they tried so hard for this one and now their time has finally come.
So I have a month to plan this gig and I want to make it very special. I just bought this cute centerpiece which looks like a tier wedding cake but it is made up a rolled up towels, diapers, bibs, etc. Very cute and it is made out of baby items. We also have the most wonderful but snobby bakery in town. This bakery has a yummy website that had us all drooling at work. You would think we were looking at centerfolds but nope, it was just cake.
So her colors are mint green and the theme is bunnies. They went out and splurged on Pottery Barn for Kids nursery items ( I just love any thing Pottery Barn but it is a little too pricey for me). So this week-end I am going to get Crafty with my brand new sewing machine. I was thinking about sewing little favor-like things together (gingham) but the truth is my son will be having a candy bar fundraiser and I am sure that I could buy lots of candybars and wrap them up with a personal label. Humm 2 birds one stone.
I just saw an article about these prenatal studios where you can get a 3-D ultrasound of your baby for just a couple hundred bucks. Apparently this is much more popular in the West Coast than the East. Lots of people are opening up these studios, one OB of 20 years left his practice and started his own studio. Imagine that. I think it would very cool to do, to be able to see your baby before it is born. I am so impatient and love to take alot photos. I would love to be a photographer and take pictures of cute babies and pregnant ladies, and of course pets. What could be greater? Just wonder if I would have the patience for that.
Well AF started last night. She is get downright funky and possibly irregular. She tends to show up a few days before the 'set date' with spotting but this time there was no denying the evil witch. No wonder my OPKs were off this month. I know that I should temp but my sleep is just too much more important that getting up at a set time. Funny b/c I thought I would just trick her by buying all the feminine stuff and lots of OPKs thinking that I wouldn't need them. Silly me.
OK y'all. This is getting rather lengthy. Let me know any good ideas about the shower. I want this to be special and spectacular.
