Officially 13 weeks today. Dang it...iparenting has yet to contact me regarding a Pregnancy Diary Diary.
Well just wanted to share the most amazing experience...
Last week DH and I went to our Genetic Counseling/1 st trimester screen. I opted to have the Nuchal Translucency Screening to check for Downs and Trisomy 18, both of which are Chromosonal Defects. I was well prepared for the test which requires drops of blood and an ultrasound. This testing was paid for out of pocket but I really liked the idea since I am of ADVANCED MATERNAL AGE and it is considered a non invasive test (no risk of miscarriage). I had no idea that they would be doing the 3-D ultrasound. It was my 3 rd 'regular ultrasound' and my 1 st 3-D. OH MY GOODNESS. The detail. Both DH and I were just blown away at the details we could see of our baby. Eyes, nose, mouth, shoulders, arms and hands (but no fingers), legs, etc. Because the baby is so small we could see him/her completely on the screen. We also couldn't believe how much he/she was moving and that a strong cough could wake him/her up from what appeared deep sleep. We were just blown away. The dear old doc made up a CD of the images that he got from that visit. Some of the 3-D and some of the good old black and white (the 3-D was in Sepia tones).
Of course I cried and went into deep prayer thanking God for this miracle that I have been waiting so long for. I really feel like God was in that room at that moment.
After leaving the office my DH and I were speechless. He really wanted to do "every test we could to check for everything" but after that we both kind of felt like the results of the test wouldn't even matter. That was our baby, perfect as we could ever ask for. It was the greatest feeling to hear my DH say "I saw my baby's face". I could tell he was instantly in love (and I though daddies really didn't love their babies until they were born)
So that was that. I would love to show you all pictures but I do not have a website to share.
Thank you again for your support and I really hope that iparenting will hurry and transfer me to the pregnancy diaries, now that I can finally believe it.
Annie
