Amanda P's Diary Entries

Diary Navigation:

September 13, 2000

Hi everyone! Hope this entry finds all of you in a good place. Thanks to all of you that posted congratulatory notes on my "Talk to Me" board. They mean the world to DH and me. This board is so wonderful, warm, and supportive I'll be sad when it's time to move on. I know I can always come back and visit though!

Well, I had my sonogram on Friday, Sept. 8, and the news was positive. The pregnancy is implanted in the uterus right where it should be and the sac is of normal size and the yolk is forming so that means it's not a blighted ovum. The pain is being caused by a luteal cyst on my left ovary which the technician said is a good thing since it is needed to release progesterone and keep the lining in the uterus plush until the placenta is ready to take over. We couldn't see the baby, though, or the heartbeat, but the technician said not to worry because it is still so early. I was so thrilled when she said that she would schedule me for another one in 10 days so that I can see the heartbeat and be totally secure that everything is fine. So I have my second sonogram on Monday. I'll let you know how it goes.

On to other subjects ... poor DS cracked his head open on the corner of the footboard of our bed and had to be taken to the emergency room on Saturday. The poor thing had to have a staple put in his head and the worst part is they didn't use any anesthesia to do it. They said it would be more painful for them to use the shots to numb it than to just go ahead and get it over with. I had a really hard time holding him down knowing what they were about to do. DS seemed to get over it pretty fast though, and all was forgotten once we took a trip to McDonald's as a reward for being so brave.

If all this isn't bad enough, Monday I pick him up from daycare and he tells me his tummy is hurting and he feels warm to me. No sooner do I get him in the car and we start heading home than he throws up all over the back seat. Oh, it wasn't pretty, a pregnant woman with morning sickness trying to comfort her 3-year-old and blot him with tissue, all the while having to lean out the door every two minutes to "let it all out," so to speak. Oh, the joys of motherhood. But really I know I will look back on it fondly and laugh one day.

Well, I hope this entry finds each of you happy and healthy and thinking +++++++++ thoughts. And of course ~~~~***~~**~~~~**~~*~~~~***~~ tons of baby dust to all!!!

Love,
Amanda
